Juz 29 (Para 29, Tabarak)

تَبَـٰرَكَ ٱلَّذِى بِيَدِهِ ٱلْمُلْكُ وَهُوَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ قَدِيرٌ ﴿١﴾﴿١﴾

Blessed is He in whose hand is the sovereignty, and who has power over everything.

ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَ ٱلْمَوْتَ وَٱلْحَيَوٰةَ لِيَبْلُوَكُمْ أَيُّكُمْ أَحْسَنُ عَمَلًا ۚ وَهُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلْغَفُورُ ﴿٢﴾﴿٢﴾

He who created death and life—to test you—as to which of you is better in conduct. He is the Almighty, the Forgiving.

ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَ سَبْعَ سَمَـٰوَٰتٍ طِبَاقًا ۖ مَّا تَرَىٰ فِى خَلْقِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ مِن تَفَـٰوُتٍ ۖ فَٱرْجِعِ ٱلْبَصَرَ هَلْ تَرَىٰ مِن فُطُورٍ ﴿٣﴾﴿٣﴾

He who created seven heavens in layers. You see no discrepancy in the creation of the Compassionate. Look again. Can you see any cracks?

ثُمَّ ٱرْجِعِ ٱلْبَصَرَ كَرَّتَيْنِ يَنقَلِبْ إِلَيْكَ ٱلْبَصَرُ خَاسِئًا وَهُوَ حَسِيرٌ ﴿٤﴾﴿٤﴾

Then look again, and again, and your sight will return to you dazzled and exhausted.

وَلَقَدْ زَيَّنَّا ٱلسَّمَآءَ ٱلدُّنْيَا بِمَصَـٰبِيحَ وَجَعَلْنَـٰهَا رُجُومًا لِّلشَّيَـٰطِينِ ۖ وَأَعْتَدْنَا لَهُمْ عَذَابَ ٱلسَّعِيرِ ﴿٥﴾﴿٥﴾

We have adorned the lower heaven with lanterns, and made them missiles against the devils; and We have prepared for them the punishment of the Blaze.

وَلِلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ بِرَبِّهِمْ عَذَابُ جَهَنَّمَ ۖ وَبِئْسَ ٱلْمَصِيرُ ﴿٦﴾﴿٦﴾

For those who reject their Lord, there is the torment of Hell. What an evil destination!

إِذَآ أُلْقُوا۟ فِيهَا سَمِعُوا۟ لَهَا شَهِيقًا وَهِىَ تَفُورُ ﴿٧﴾﴿٧﴾

When they are thrown into it, they will hear it roaring, as it seethes.

تَكَادُ تَمَيَّزُ مِنَ ٱلْغَيْظِ ۖ كُلَّمَآ أُلْقِىَ فِيهَا فَوْجٌ سَأَلَهُمْ خَزَنَتُهَآ أَلَمْ يَأْتِكُمْ نَذِيرٌ ﴿٨﴾﴿٨﴾

It almost bursts with fury. Every time a batch is thrown into it, its keepers will ask them, “Has no warner come to you?”

قَالُوا۟ بَلَىٰ قَدْ جَآءَنَا نَذِيرٌ فَكَذَّبْنَا وَقُلْنَا مَا نَزَّلَ ٱللَّهُ مِن شَىْءٍ إِنْ أَنتُمْ إِلَّا فِى ضَلَـٰلٍ كَبِيرٍ ﴿٩﴾﴿٩﴾

They will say, “Yes, a warner did come to us, but we disbelieved, and said, ‘Allah did not send down anything; you are very much mistaken.’”

وَقَالُوا۟ لَوْ كُنَّا نَسْمَعُ أَوْ نَعْقِلُ مَا كُنَّا فِىٓ أَصْحَـٰبِ ٱلسَّعِيرِ ﴿١٠﴾﴿١٠﴾

And they will say, “Had we listened or reasoned, we would not have been among the inmates of the Blaze.”

فَٱعْتَرَفُوا۟ بِذَنۢبِهِمْ فَسُحْقًا لِّأَصْحَـٰبِ ٱلسَّعِيرِ ﴿١١﴾﴿١١﴾

So they will acknowledge their sins. So away with the inmates of the Blaze.

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ يَخْشَوْنَ رَبَّهُم بِٱلْغَيْبِ لَهُم مَّغْفِرَةٌ وَأَجْرٌ كَبِيرٌ ﴿١٢﴾﴿١٢﴾

As for those who fear their Lord in secret—for them is forgiveness and a great reward.

وَأَسِرُّوا۟ قَوْلَكُمْ أَوِ ٱجْهَرُوا۟ بِهِۦٓ ۖ إِنَّهُۥ عَلِيمٌۢ بِذَاتِ ٱلصُّدُورِ ﴿١٣﴾﴿١٣﴾

Whether you keep your words secret, or declare them—He is Aware of the inner thoughts.

أَلَا يَعْلَمُ مَنْ خَلَقَ وَهُوَ ٱللَّطِيفُ ٱلْخَبِيرُ ﴿١٤﴾﴿١٤﴾

Would He not know, He who created? He is the Refined, the Expert.

هُوَ ٱلَّذِى جَعَلَ لَكُمُ ٱلْأَرْضَ ذَلُولًا فَٱمْشُوا۟ فِى مَنَاكِبِهَا وَكُلُوا۟ مِن رِّزْقِهِۦ ۖ وَإِلَيْهِ ٱلنُّشُورُ ﴿١٥﴾﴿١٥﴾

It is He who made the earth manageable for you, so travel its regions, and eat of His provisions. To Him is the Resurgence.

ءَأَمِنتُم مَّن فِى ٱلسَّمَآءِ أَن يَخْسِفَ بِكُمُ ٱلْأَرْضَ فَإِذَا هِىَ تَمُورُ ﴿١٦﴾﴿١٦﴾

Are you confident that the One in heaven will not cause the earth to collapse beneath you as it spins?

أَمْ أَمِنتُم مَّن فِى ٱلسَّمَآءِ أَن يُرْسِلَ عَلَيْكُمْ حَاصِبًا ۖ فَسَتَعْلَمُونَ كَيْفَ نَذِيرِ ﴿١٧﴾﴿١٧﴾

Or are you confident that the One in heaven will not unleash against you a violent storm? Then you will know what My warning is like.

وَلَقَدْ كَذَّبَ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ فَكَيْفَ كَانَ نَكِيرِ ﴿١٨﴾﴿١٨﴾

Those before them also denied the truth; and how was My disapproval?

أَوَلَمْ يَرَوْا۟ إِلَى ٱلطَّيْرِ فَوْقَهُمْ صَـٰٓفَّـٰتٍ وَيَقْبِضْنَ ۚ مَا يُمْسِكُهُنَّ إِلَّا ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنُ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ بِكُلِّ شَىْءٍۭ بَصِيرٌ ﴿١٩﴾﴿١٩﴾

Have they not seen the birds above them, spreading their wings, and folding them? None holds them except the Compassionate. He is Perceiver of everything.

أَمَّنْ هَـٰذَا ٱلَّذِى هُوَ جُندٌ لَّكُمْ يَنصُرُكُم مِّن دُونِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ۚ إِنِ ٱلْكَـٰفِرُونَ إِلَّا فِى غُرُورٍ ﴿٢٠﴾﴿٢٠﴾

Or who is this who is a force for you to protect you against the Compassionate? The disbelievers are in nothing but delusion.

أَمَّنْ هَـٰذَا ٱلَّذِى يَرْزُقُكُمْ إِنْ أَمْسَكَ رِزْقَهُۥ ۚ بَل لَّجُّوا۟ فِى عُتُوٍّ وَنُفُورٍ ﴿٢١﴾﴿٢١﴾

Or who is this that will provide for you, if He withholds His provision? Yet they persist in defiance and aversion.

أَفَمَن يَمْشِى مُكِبًّا عَلَىٰ وَجْهِهِۦٓ أَهْدَىٰٓ أَمَّن يَمْشِى سَوِيًّا عَلَىٰ صِرَٰطٍ مُّسْتَقِيمٍ ﴿٢٢﴾﴿٢٢﴾

Is he who walks bent on his own design better guided, or he who walks upright on a straight path?

قُلْ هُوَ ٱلَّذِىٓ أَنشَأَكُمْ وَجَعَلَ لَكُمُ ٱلسَّمْعَ وَٱلْأَبْصَـٰرَ وَٱلْأَفْـِٔدَةَ ۖ قَلِيلًا مَّا تَشْكُرُونَ ﴿٢٣﴾﴿٢٣﴾

Say, “It is He who produced you; and made for you the hearing, and the vision, and the organs. But rarely do you give thanks.”

قُلْ هُوَ ٱلَّذِى ذَرَأَكُمْ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَإِلَيْهِ تُحْشَرُونَ ﴿٢٤﴾﴿٢٤﴾

Say, “It is He who scattered you on earth, and to Him you will be rounded up.”

وَيَقُولُونَ مَتَىٰ هَـٰذَا ٱلْوَعْدُ إِن كُنتُمْ صَـٰدِقِينَ ﴿٢٥﴾﴿٢٥﴾

And they say, “When will this promise be fulfilled, if you are truthful?”

قُلْ إِنَّمَا ٱلْعِلْمُ عِندَ ٱللَّهِ وَإِنَّمَآ أَنَا۠ نَذِيرٌ مُّبِينٌ ﴿٢٦﴾﴿٢٦﴾

Say, “Knowledge is with Allah, and I am only a clear warner.”

فَلَمَّا رَأَوْهُ زُلْفَةً سِيٓـَٔتْ وُجُوهُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ وَقِيلَ هَـٰذَا ٱلَّذِى كُنتُم بِهِۦ تَدَّعُونَ ﴿٢٧﴾﴿٢٧﴾

But when they see it approaching, the faces of those who disbelieved will turn gloomy, and it will be said, “This is what you used to call for.”

قُلْ أَرَءَيْتُمْ إِنْ أَهْلَكَنِىَ ٱللَّهُ وَمَن مَّعِىَ أَوْ رَحِمَنَا فَمَن يُجِيرُ ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ مِنْ عَذَابٍ أَلِيمٍ ﴿٢٨﴾﴿٢٨﴾

Say, “Have you considered? Should Allah make me perish, and those with me; or else He bestows His mercy on us; who will protect the disbelievers from an agonizing torment?”

قُلْ هُوَ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنُ ءَامَنَّا بِهِۦ وَعَلَيْهِ تَوَكَّلْنَا ۖ فَسَتَعْلَمُونَ مَنْ هُوَ فِى ضَلَـٰلٍ مُّبِينٍ ﴿٢٩﴾﴿٢٩﴾

Say, “He is the Compassionate. We have faith in Him, and in Him we trust. Soon you will know who is in evident error.”

قُلْ أَرَءَيْتُمْ إِنْ أَصْبَحَ مَآؤُكُمْ غَوْرًا فَمَن يَأْتِيكُم بِمَآءٍ مَّعِينٍۭ ﴿٣٠﴾﴿٣٠﴾

Say, “Have you considered? If your water drains away, who will bring you pure running water?”

نٓ ۚ وَٱلْقَلَمِ وَمَا يَسْطُرُونَ ﴿١﴾﴿١﴾

Noon. By the pen, and by what they inscribe.

مَآ أَنتَ بِنِعْمَةِ رَبِّكَ بِمَجْنُونٍ ﴿٢﴾﴿٢﴾

By the grace of your Lord, you are not insane.

وَإِنَّ لَكَ لَأَجْرًا غَيْرَ مَمْنُونٍ ﴿٣﴾﴿٣﴾

In fact, you will have a reward that will never end.

وَإِنَّكَ لَعَلَىٰ خُلُقٍ عَظِيمٍ ﴿٤﴾﴿٤﴾

And you are of a great moral character.

فَسَتُبْصِرُ وَيُبْصِرُونَ ﴿٥﴾﴿٥﴾

You will see, and they will see.

بِأَييِّكُمُ ٱلْمَفْتُونُ ﴿٦﴾﴿٦﴾

Which of you is the afflicted.

إِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِمَن ضَلَّ عَن سَبِيلِهِۦ وَهُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِٱلْمُهْتَدِينَ ﴿٧﴾﴿٧﴾

Your Lord knows best who has strayed from His path, and He knows best the well-guided.

فَلَا تُطِعِ ٱلْمُكَذِّبِينَ ﴿٨﴾﴿٨﴾

So do not obey the deniers.

وَدُّوا۟ لَوْ تُدْهِنُ فَيُدْهِنُونَ ﴿٩﴾﴿٩﴾

They would like you to compromise, so they would compromise.

وَلَا تُطِعْ كُلَّ حَلَّافٍ مَّهِينٍ ﴿١٠﴾﴿١٠﴾

And do not obey any vile swearer.

هَمَّازٍ مَّشَّآءٍۭ بِنَمِيمٍ ﴿١١﴾﴿١١﴾

Backbiter, spreader of slander.

مَّنَّاعٍ لِّلْخَيْرِ مُعْتَدٍ أَثِيمٍ ﴿١٢﴾﴿١٢﴾

Preventer of good, transgressor, sinner.

عُتُلٍّۭ بَعْدَ ذَٰلِكَ زَنِيمٍ ﴿١٣﴾﴿١٣﴾

Rude and fake besides.

أَن كَانَ ذَا مَالٍ وَبَنِينَ ﴿١٤﴾﴿١٤﴾

Just because he has money and children.

إِذَا تُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْهِ ءَايَـٰتُنَا قَالَ أَسَـٰطِيرُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ ﴿١٥﴾﴿١٥﴾

When Our Verses are recited to him, he says, “Myths of the ancients!”

سَنَسِمُهُۥ عَلَى ٱلْخُرْطُومِ ﴿١٦﴾﴿١٦﴾

We will brand him on the muzzle.

إِنَّا بَلَوْنَـٰهُمْ كَمَا بَلَوْنَآ أَصْحَـٰبَ ٱلْجَنَّةِ إِذْ أَقْسَمُوا۟ لَيَصْرِمُنَّهَا مُصْبِحِينَ ﴿١٧﴾﴿١٧﴾

We tested them, as We tested the owners of the garden, when they vowed to harvest it in the morning.

وَلَا يَسْتَثْنُونَ ﴿١٨﴾﴿١٨﴾

Without any reservation.

فَطَافَ عَلَيْهَا طَآئِفٌ مِّن رَّبِّكَ وَهُمْ نَآئِمُونَ ﴿١٩﴾﴿١٩﴾

But a calamity from your Lord went around it while they slept.

فَأَصْبَحَتْ كَٱلصَّرِيمِ ﴿٢٠﴾﴿٢٠﴾

And in the morning it was as if picked.

فَتَنَادَوْا۟ مُصْبِحِينَ ﴿٢١﴾﴿٢١﴾

In the morning, they called to one another.

أَنِ ٱغْدُوا۟ عَلَىٰ حَرْثِكُمْ إِن كُنتُمْ صَـٰرِمِينَ ﴿٢٢﴾﴿٢٢﴾

“Go early to your plantation, if you are going to harvest.”

فَٱنطَلَقُوا۟ وَهُمْ يَتَخَـٰفَتُونَ ﴿٢٣﴾﴿٢٣﴾

So off they went, murmuring to one another.

أَن لَّا يَدْخُلَنَّهَا ٱلْيَوْمَ عَلَيْكُم مِّسْكِينٌ ﴿٢٤﴾﴿٢٤﴾

“No poor person is to enter it upon you today.”

وَغَدَوْا۟ عَلَىٰ حَرْدٍ قَـٰدِرِينَ ﴿٢٥﴾﴿٢٥﴾

And early they went, resolved in intent.

فَلَمَّا رَأَوْهَا قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّا لَضَآلُّونَ ﴿٢٦﴾﴿٢٦﴾

But when they saw it, they said, “We were wrong.

بَلْ نَحْنُ مَحْرُومُونَ ﴿٢٧﴾﴿٢٧﴾

We are now deprived.”

قَالَ أَوْسَطُهُمْ أَلَمْ أَقُل لَّكُمْ لَوْلَا تُسَبِّحُونَ ﴿٢٨﴾﴿٢٨﴾

The most reasonable of them said, “Did I not say to you, ‘If only you would glorify’?”

قَالُوا۟ سُبْحَـٰنَ رَبِّنَآ إِنَّا كُنَّا ظَـٰلِمِينَ ﴿٢٩﴾﴿٢٩﴾

They said, “Glory to our Lord—we were indeed in the wrong.”

فَأَقْبَلَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ يَتَلَـٰوَمُونَ ﴿٣٠﴾﴿٣٠﴾

Then they turned to one another, blaming one another.

قَالُوا۟ يَـٰوَيْلَنَآ إِنَّا كُنَّا طَـٰغِينَ ﴿٣١﴾﴿٣١﴾

They said, “Woe to us—we were indeed domineering.

عَسَىٰ رَبُّنَآ أَن يُبْدِلَنَا خَيْرًا مِّنْهَآ إِنَّآ إِلَىٰ رَبِّنَا رَٰغِبُونَ ﴿٣٢﴾﴿٣٢﴾

Perhaps our Lord will give us a better substitute for it. We are turning to our Lord.”

كَذَٰلِكَ ٱلْعَذَابُ ۖ وَلَعَذَابُ ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ أَكْبَرُ ۚ لَوْ كَانُوا۟ يَعْلَمُونَ ﴿٣٣﴾﴿٣٣﴾

Such is the punishment; but the punishment of the Hereafter is greater, if they only knew.

إِنَّ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ عِندَ رَبِّهِمْ جَنَّـٰتِ ٱلنَّعِيمِ ﴿٣٤﴾﴿٣٤﴾

For the righteous are Gardens of Delight with their Lord.

أَفَنَجْعَلُ ٱلْمُسْلِمِينَ كَٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ ﴿٣٥﴾﴿٣٥﴾

Shall We treat the Muslims like the villains?

مَا لَكُمْ كَيْفَ تَحْكُمُونَ ﴿٣٦﴾﴿٣٦﴾

What is the matter with you? How do you judge?

أَمْ لَكُمْ كِتَـٰبٌ فِيهِ تَدْرُسُونَ ﴿٣٧﴾﴿٣٧﴾

Or do you have a scripture in which you study.

إِنَّ لَكُمْ فِيهِ لَمَا تَخَيَّرُونَ ﴿٣٨﴾﴿٣٨﴾

Wherein there is whatever you choose?

أَمْ لَكُمْ أَيْمَـٰنٌ عَلَيْنَا بَـٰلِغَةٌ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ ۙ إِنَّ لَكُمْ لَمَا تَحْكُمُونَ ﴿٣٩﴾﴿٣٩﴾

Or do you have oaths from Us, binding until the Day of Resurrection, that you will have whatever you demand?

سَلْهُمْ أَيُّهُم بِذَٰلِكَ زَعِيمٌ ﴿٤٠﴾﴿٤٠﴾

Ask them, which of them will guarantee that.

أَمْ لَهُمْ شُرَكَآءُ فَلْيَأْتُوا۟ بِشُرَكَآئِهِمْ إِن كَانُوا۟ صَـٰدِقِينَ ﴿٤١﴾﴿٤١﴾

Or do they have partners? Then let them produce their partners, if they are truthful.

يَوْمَ يُكْشَفُ عَن سَاقٍ وَيُدْعَوْنَ إِلَى ٱلسُّجُودِ فَلَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ ﴿٤٢﴾﴿٤٢﴾

On the Day when the Shin will be exposed, and they will be called to bow down, but they will be unable.

خَـٰشِعَةً أَبْصَـٰرُهُمْ تَرْهَقُهُمْ ذِلَّةٌ ۖ وَقَدْ كَانُوا۟ يُدْعَوْنَ إِلَى ٱلسُّجُودِ وَهُمْ سَـٰلِمُونَ ﴿٤٣﴾﴿٤٣﴾

Their eyes subdued, shame will cover them. They were invited to bow down when they were sound.

فَذَرْنِى وَمَن يُكَذِّبُ بِهَـٰذَا ٱلْحَدِيثِ ۖ سَنَسْتَدْرِجُهُم مِّنْ حَيْثُ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ ﴿٤٤﴾﴿٤٤﴾

So leave Me to those who reject this discourse; We will proceed against them gradually, from where they do not know.

وَأُمْلِى لَهُمْ ۚ إِنَّ كَيْدِى مَتِينٌ ﴿٤٥﴾﴿٤٥﴾

And I will give them respite. My plan is firm.

أَمْ تَسْـَٔلُهُمْ أَجْرًا فَهُم مِّن مَّغْرَمٍ مُّثْقَلُونَ ﴿٤٦﴾﴿٤٦﴾

Or do you ask them for a fee, so they are burdened with debt?

أَمْ عِندَهُمُ ٱلْغَيْبُ فَهُمْ يَكْتُبُونَ ﴿٤٧﴾﴿٤٧﴾

Or do they know the future, and so they write it down?

فَٱصْبِرْ لِحُكْمِ رَبِّكَ وَلَا تَكُن كَصَاحِبِ ٱلْحُوتِ إِذْ نَادَىٰ وَهُوَ مَكْظُومٌ ﴿٤٨﴾﴿٤٨﴾

So wait patiently for the decision of your Lord, and do not be like the Fellow of the Fish who cried out in despair.

لَّوْلَآ أَن تَدَٰرَكَهُۥ نِعْمَةٌ مِّن رَّبِّهِۦ لَنُبِذَ بِٱلْعَرَآءِ وَهُوَ مَذْمُومٌ ﴿٤٩﴾﴿٤٩﴾

Were it not for his Lord’s favor that reached him, he would have been thrown into the wilderness, fully despised.

فَٱجْتَبَـٰهُ رَبُّهُۥ فَجَعَلَهُۥ مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَ ﴿٥٠﴾﴿٥٠﴾

But his Lord chose him, and made him one of the righteous.

وَإِن يَكَادُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ لَيُزْلِقُونَكَ بِأَبْصَـٰرِهِمْ لَمَّا سَمِعُوا۟ ٱلذِّكْرَ وَيَقُولُونَ إِنَّهُۥ لَمَجْنُونٌ ﴿٥١﴾﴿٥١﴾

Those who disbelieve almost stab you with their glances when they hear the message, and say, “He is crazy!”

وَمَا هُوَ إِلَّا ذِكْرٌ لِّلْعَـٰلَمِينَ ﴿٥٢﴾﴿٥٢﴾

But it is no less than a reminder to all the Worlds.

ٱلْحَآقَّةُ ﴿١﴾﴿١﴾

The Reality.

مَا ٱلْحَآقَّةُ ﴿٢﴾﴿٢﴾

What is the Reality?

وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا ٱلْحَآقَّةُ ﴿٣﴾﴿٣﴾

What will make you understand what the Reality is?

كَذَّبَتْ ثَمُودُ وَعَادٌۢ بِٱلْقَارِعَةِ ﴿٤﴾﴿٤﴾

Thamood and Aad denied the Catastrophe.

فَأَمَّا ثَمُودُ فَأُهْلِكُوا۟ بِٱلطَّاغِيَةِ ﴿٥﴾﴿٥﴾

As for Thamood, they were annihilated by the Overwhelming.

وَأَمَّا عَادٌ فَأُهْلِكُوا۟ بِرِيحٍ صَرْصَرٍ عَاتِيَةٍ ﴿٦﴾﴿٦﴾

And as for Aad; they were annihilated by a furious, roaring wind.

سَخَّرَهَا عَلَيْهِمْ سَبْعَ لَيَالٍ وَثَمَـٰنِيَةَ أَيَّامٍ حُسُومًا فَتَرَى ٱلْقَوْمَ فِيهَا صَرْعَىٰ كَأَنَّهُمْ أَعْجَازُ نَخْلٍ خَاوِيَةٍ ﴿٧﴾﴿٧﴾

He unleashed it upon them for seven nights and eight days, in succession. You could see the people tossed around, as though they were stumps of hollow palm-trees.

فَهَلْ تَرَىٰ لَهُم مِّنۢ بَاقِيَةٍ ﴿٨﴾﴿٨﴾

Can you see any remnant of them?

وَجَآءَ فِرْعَوْنُ وَمَن قَبْلَهُۥ وَٱلْمُؤْتَفِكَـٰتُ بِٱلْخَاطِئَةِ ﴿٩﴾﴿٩﴾

Then Pharaoh came, and those before him, and the Overturned Cities steeped in sin.

فَعَصَوْا۟ رَسُولَ رَبِّهِمْ فَأَخَذَهُمْ أَخْذَةً رَّابِيَةً ﴿١٠﴾﴿١٠﴾

But they disobeyed the messenger of their Lord, so He seized them with an overpowering grip.

إِنَّا لَمَّا طَغَا ٱلْمَآءُ حَمَلْنَـٰكُمْ فِى ٱلْجَارِيَةِ ﴿١١﴾﴿١١﴾

When the waters overflowed, We carried you in the cruising ship.

لِنَجْعَلَهَا لَكُمْ تَذْكِرَةً وَتَعِيَهَآ أُذُنٌ وَٰعِيَةٌ ﴿١٢﴾﴿١٢﴾

To make it a lesson for you—so that retaining ears may retain it.

فَإِذَا نُفِخَ فِى ٱلصُّورِ نَفْخَةٌ وَٰحِدَةٌ ﴿١٣﴾﴿١٣﴾

Then, when the Trumpet is sounded a single time.

وَحُمِلَتِ ٱلْأَرْضُ وَٱلْجِبَالُ فَدُكَّتَا دَكَّةً وَٰحِدَةً ﴿١٤﴾﴿١٤﴾

And the earth and the mountains are lifted up, and crushed, with a single crush.

فَيَوْمَئِذٍ وَقَعَتِ ٱلْوَاقِعَةُ ﴿١٥﴾﴿١٥﴾

On that Day, the Event will come to pass.

وَٱنشَقَّتِ ٱلسَّمَآءُ فَهِىَ يَوْمَئِذٍ وَاهِيَةٌ ﴿١٦﴾﴿١٦﴾

And the heaven will crack; so on that Day it will be frail.

وَٱلْمَلَكُ عَلَىٰٓ أَرْجَآئِهَا ۚ وَيَحْمِلُ عَرْشَ رَبِّكَ فَوْقَهُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ ثَمَـٰنِيَةٌ ﴿١٧﴾﴿١٧﴾

And the angels will be ranged around its borders, while eight will be carrying the Throne of your Lord above them that Day.

يَوْمَئِذٍ تُعْرَضُونَ لَا تَخْفَىٰ مِنكُمْ خَافِيَةٌ ﴿١٨﴾﴿١٨﴾

On that Day you will be exposed, and no secret of yours will remain hidden.

فَأَمَّا مَنْ أُوتِىَ كِتَـٰبَهُۥ بِيَمِينِهِۦ فَيَقُولُ هَآؤُمُ ٱقْرَءُوا۟ كِتَـٰبِيَهْ ﴿١٩﴾﴿١٩﴾

As for him who is given his book in his right hand, he will say, “Here, take my book and read it.

إِنِّى ظَنَنتُ أَنِّى مُلَـٰقٍ حِسَابِيَهْ ﴿٢٠﴾﴿٢٠﴾

I knew I would be held accountable.”

فَهُوَ فِى عِيشَةٍ رَّاضِيَةٍ ﴿٢١﴾﴿٢١﴾

So he will be in pleasant living.

فِى جَنَّةٍ عَالِيَةٍ ﴿٢٢﴾﴿٢٢﴾

In a lofty Garden.

قُطُوفُهَا دَانِيَةٌ ﴿٢٣﴾﴿٢٣﴾

Its pickings are within reach.

كُلُوا۟ وَٱشْرَبُوا۟ هَنِيٓـًٔۢا بِمَآ أَسْلَفْتُمْ فِى ٱلْأَيَّامِ ٱلْخَالِيَةِ ﴿٢٤﴾﴿٢٤﴾

“Eat and drink merrily for what you did in the days gone by.”

وَأَمَّا مَنْ أُوتِىَ كِتَـٰبَهُۥ بِشِمَالِهِۦ فَيَقُولُ يَـٰلَيْتَنِى لَمْ أُوتَ كِتَـٰبِيَهْ ﴿٢٥﴾﴿٢٥﴾

But as for him who is given his book in his left hand, he will say, “I wish I was never given my book.

وَلَمْ أَدْرِ مَا حِسَابِيَهْ ﴿٢٦﴾﴿٢٦﴾

And never knew what my account was.

يَـٰلَيْتَهَا كَانَتِ ٱلْقَاضِيَةَ ﴿٢٧﴾﴿٢٧﴾

If only it was the end.

مَآ أَغْنَىٰ عَنِّى مَالِيَهْ ۜ ﴿٢٨﴾﴿٢٨﴾

My money cannot avail me.

هَلَكَ عَنِّى سُلْطَـٰنِيَهْ ﴿٢٩﴾﴿٢٩﴾

My power has vanished from me.”

خُذُوهُ فَغُلُّوهُ ﴿٣٠﴾﴿٣٠﴾

“Take him and shackle him.

ثُمَّ ٱلْجَحِيمَ صَلُّوهُ ﴿٣١﴾﴿٣١﴾

Then scorch him in the Blaze.

ثُمَّ فِى سِلْسِلَةٍ ذَرْعُهَا سَبْعُونَ ذِرَاعًا فَٱسْلُكُوهُ ﴿٣٢﴾﴿٣٢﴾

Then in a chain whose length is seventy cubits tie him up.

إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ لَا يُؤْمِنُ بِٱللَّهِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ ﴿٣٣﴾﴿٣٣﴾

For he would not believe in Allah the Great.

وَلَا يَحُضُّ عَلَىٰ طَعَامِ ٱلْمِسْكِينِ ﴿٣٤﴾﴿٣٤﴾

Nor would he advocate the feeding of the destitute.

فَلَيْسَ لَهُ ٱلْيَوْمَ هَـٰهُنَا حَمِيمٌ ﴿٣٥﴾﴿٣٥﴾

So he has no friend here today.

وَلَا طَعَامٌ إِلَّا مِنْ غِسْلِينٍ ﴿٣٦﴾﴿٣٦﴾

And no food except scum.

لَّا يَأْكُلُهُۥٓ إِلَّا ٱلْخَـٰطِـُٔونَ ﴿٣٧﴾﴿٣٧﴾

Which only the sinners eat.”

فَلَآ أُقْسِمُ بِمَا تُبْصِرُونَ ﴿٣٨﴾﴿٣٨﴾

Indeed, I swear by what you see.

وَمَا لَا تُبْصِرُونَ ﴿٣٩﴾﴿٣٩﴾

And by what you do not see.

إِنَّهُۥ لَقَوْلُ رَسُولٍ كَرِيمٍ ﴿٤٠﴾﴿٤٠﴾

It is the speech of a noble messenger.

وَمَا هُوَ بِقَوْلِ شَاعِرٍ ۚ قَلِيلًا مَّا تُؤْمِنُونَ ﴿٤١﴾﴿٤١﴾

And it is not the speech of a poet—little do you believe.

وَلَا بِقَوْلِ كَاهِنٍ ۚ قَلِيلًا مَّا تَذَكَّرُونَ ﴿٤٢﴾﴿٤٢﴾

Nor is it the speech of a soothsayer—little do you take heed.

تَنزِيلٌ مِّن رَّبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ ﴿٤٣﴾﴿٤٣﴾

It is a revelation from the Lord of the Worlds.

وَلَوْ تَقَوَّلَ عَلَيْنَا بَعْضَ ٱلْأَقَاوِيلِ ﴿٤٤﴾﴿٤٤﴾

Had he falsely attributed some statements to Us.

لَأَخَذْنَا مِنْهُ بِٱلْيَمِينِ ﴿٤٥﴾﴿٤٥﴾

We would have seized him by the right arm.

ثُمَّ لَقَطَعْنَا مِنْهُ ٱلْوَتِينَ ﴿٤٦﴾﴿٤٦﴾

Then slashed his lifeline.

فَمَا مِنكُم مِّنْ أَحَدٍ عَنْهُ حَـٰجِزِينَ ﴿٤٧﴾﴿٤٧﴾

And none of you could have restrained Us from him.

وَإِنَّهُۥ لَتَذْكِرَةٌ لِّلْمُتَّقِينَ ﴿٤٨﴾﴿٤٨﴾

Surely, it is a message for the righteous.

وَإِنَّا لَنَعْلَمُ أَنَّ مِنكُم مُّكَذِّبِينَ ﴿٤٩﴾﴿٤٩﴾

And We know that some of you will reject it.

وَإِنَّهُۥ لَحَسْرَةٌ عَلَى ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ ﴿٥٠﴾﴿٥٠﴾

And it is surely a source of grief for the unbelievers.

وَإِنَّهُۥ لَحَقُّ ٱلْيَقِينِ ﴿٥١﴾﴿٥١﴾

Yet it is the absolute truth.

فَسَبِّحْ بِٱسْمِ رَبِّكَ ٱلْعَظِيمِ ﴿٥٢﴾﴿٥٢﴾

So glorify the name of your Lord, the Magnificent.

سَأَلَ سَآئِلٌۢ بِعَذَابٍ وَاقِعٍ ﴿١﴾﴿١﴾

A questioner questioned the imminent torment.

لِّلْكَـٰفِرِينَ لَيْسَ لَهُۥ دَافِعٌ ﴿٢﴾﴿٢﴾

For the disbelievers; none can repel it.

مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ ذِى ٱلْمَعَارِجِ ﴿٣﴾﴿٣﴾

From Allah, Lord of the Ways of Ascent.

تَعْرُجُ ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُ وَٱلرُّوحُ إِلَيْهِ فِى يَوْمٍ كَانَ مِقْدَارُهُۥ خَمْسِينَ أَلْفَ سَنَةٍ ﴿٤﴾﴿٤﴾

Unto Him the angels and the Spirit ascend on a Day the duration of which is fifty thousand years.

فَٱصْبِرْ صَبْرًا جَمِيلًا ﴿٥﴾﴿٥﴾

So be patient, with sweet patience.

إِنَّهُمْ يَرَوْنَهُۥ بَعِيدًا ﴿٦﴾﴿٦﴾

They see it distant.

وَنَرَىٰهُ قَرِيبًا ﴿٧﴾﴿٧﴾

But We see it near.

يَوْمَ تَكُونُ ٱلسَّمَآءُ كَٱلْمُهْلِ ﴿٨﴾﴿٨﴾

On the Day when the sky will be like molten brass.

وَتَكُونُ ٱلْجِبَالُ كَٱلْعِهْنِ ﴿٩﴾﴿٩﴾

And the mountains will be like tufted wool.

وَلَا يَسْـَٔلُ حَمِيمٌ حَمِيمًا ﴿١٠﴾﴿١٠﴾

No friend will care about his friend.

يُبَصَّرُونَهُمْ ۚ يَوَدُّ ٱلْمُجْرِمُ لَوْ يَفْتَدِى مِنْ عَذَابِ يَوْمِئِذٍۭ بِبَنِيهِ ﴿١١﴾﴿١١﴾

They will be shown each other. The criminal wishes he would be redeemed from the punishment of that Day by his children.

وَصَـٰحِبَتِهِۦ وَأَخِيهِ ﴿١٢﴾﴿١٢﴾

And his spouse, and his brother.

وَفَصِيلَتِهِ ٱلَّتِى تُـْٔوِيهِ ﴿١٣﴾﴿١٣﴾

And his family that sheltered him.

وَمَن فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ جَمِيعًا ثُمَّ يُنجِيهِ ﴿١٤﴾﴿١٤﴾

And everyone on earth, in order to save him.

كَلَّآ ۖ إِنَّهَا لَظَىٰ ﴿١٥﴾﴿١٥﴾

By no means! It is a Raging Fire.

نَزَّاعَةً لِّلشَّوَىٰ ﴿١٦﴾﴿١٦﴾

It strips away the scalps.

تَدْعُوا۟ مَنْ أَدْبَرَ وَتَوَلَّىٰ ﴿١٧﴾﴿١٧﴾

It invites him who once turned his back and fled.

وَجَمَعَ فَأَوْعَىٰٓ ﴿١٨﴾﴿١٨﴾

And accumulated and hoarded.

إِنَّ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ خُلِقَ هَلُوعًا ﴿١٩﴾﴿١٩﴾

Man was created restless.

إِذَا مَسَّهُ ٱلشَّرُّ جَزُوعًا ﴿٢٠﴾﴿٢٠﴾

Touched by adversity, he is fretful.

وَإِذَا مَسَّهُ ٱلْخَيْرُ مَنُوعًا ﴿٢١﴾﴿٢١﴾

Touched by good, he is ungenerous.

إِلَّا ٱلْمُصَلِّينَ ﴿٢٢﴾﴿٢٢﴾

Except the prayerful.

ٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ عَلَىٰ صَلَاتِهِمْ دَآئِمُونَ ﴿٢٣﴾﴿٢٣﴾

Those who are constant at their prayers.

وَٱلَّذِينَ فِىٓ أَمْوَٰلِهِمْ حَقٌّ مَّعْلُومٌ ﴿٢٤﴾﴿٢٤﴾

And those in whose wealth is a rightful share.

لِّلسَّآئِلِ وَٱلْمَحْرُومِ ﴿٢٥﴾﴿٢٥﴾

For the beggar and the deprived.

وَٱلَّذِينَ يُصَدِّقُونَ بِيَوْمِ ٱلدِّينِ ﴿٢٦﴾﴿٢٦﴾

And those who affirm the Day of Judgment.

وَٱلَّذِينَ هُم مِّنْ عَذَابِ رَبِّهِم مُّشْفِقُونَ ﴿٢٧﴾﴿٢٧﴾

And those who fear the punishment of their Lord.

إِنَّ عَذَابَ رَبِّهِمْ غَيْرُ مَأْمُونٍ ﴿٢٨﴾﴿٢٨﴾

Their Lord’s punishment is not to be taken for granted.

وَٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ لِفُرُوجِهِمْ حَـٰفِظُونَ ﴿٢٩﴾﴿٢٩﴾

And those who guard their chastity.

إِلَّا عَلَىٰٓ أَزْوَٰجِهِمْ أَوْ مَا مَلَكَتْ أَيْمَـٰنُهُمْ فَإِنَّهُمْ غَيْرُ مَلُومِينَ ﴿٣٠﴾﴿٣٠﴾

Except from their spouses or those living under their control, for then they are free of blame.

فَمَنِ ٱبْتَغَىٰ وَرَآءَ ذَٰلِكَ فَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْعَادُونَ ﴿٣١﴾﴿٣١﴾

But whoever seeks to go beyond that—these are the transgressors.

وَٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ لِأَمَـٰنَـٰتِهِمْ وَعَهْدِهِمْ رَٰعُونَ ﴿٣٢﴾﴿٣٢﴾

And those who honor their trusts and their pledges.

وَٱلَّذِينَ هُم بِشَهَـٰدَٰتِهِمْ قَآئِمُونَ ﴿٣٣﴾﴿٣٣﴾

And those who stand by their testimonies.

وَٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ عَلَىٰ صَلَاتِهِمْ يُحَافِظُونَ ﴿٣٤﴾﴿٣٤﴾

And those who are dedicated to their prayers.

أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ فِى جَنَّـٰتٍ مُّكْرَمُونَ ﴿٣٥﴾﴿٣٥﴾

These will be honored in Gardens.

فَمَالِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ قِبَلَكَ مُهْطِعِينَ ﴿٣٦﴾﴿٣٦﴾

What is with those who disbelieve, stretching their necks towards you.

عَنِ ٱلْيَمِينِ وَعَنِ ٱلشِّمَالِ عِزِينَ ﴿٣٧﴾﴿٣٧﴾

From the right, and from the left, banding together?

أَيَطْمَعُ كُلُّ ٱمْرِئٍ مِّنْهُمْ أَن يُدْخَلَ جَنَّةَ نَعِيمٍ ﴿٣٨﴾﴿٣٨﴾

Is every one of them aspiring to be admitted into a Garden of Bliss?

كَلَّآ ۖ إِنَّا خَلَقْنَـٰهُم مِّمَّا يَعْلَمُونَ ﴿٣٩﴾﴿٣٩﴾

No indeed! We created them from what they know.

فَلَآ أُقْسِمُ بِرَبِّ ٱلْمَشَـٰرِقِ وَٱلْمَغَـٰرِبِ إِنَّا لَقَـٰدِرُونَ ﴿٤٠﴾﴿٤٠﴾

I swear by the Lord of the Easts and the Wests, that We are Able.

عَلَىٰٓ أَن نُّبَدِّلَ خَيْرًا مِّنْهُمْ وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمَسْبُوقِينَ ﴿٤١﴾﴿٤١﴾

To replace them with better than they, and We are not to be outdone.

فَذَرْهُمْ يَخُوضُوا۟ وَيَلْعَبُوا۟ حَتَّىٰ يُلَـٰقُوا۟ يَوْمَهُمُ ٱلَّذِى يُوعَدُونَ ﴿٤٢﴾﴿٤٢﴾

So leave them to blunder and play, until they meet their Day which they are promised.

يَوْمَ يَخْرُجُونَ مِنَ ٱلْأَجْدَاثِ سِرَاعًا كَأَنَّهُمْ إِلَىٰ نُصُبٍ يُوفِضُونَ ﴿٤٣﴾﴿٤٣﴾

The Day when they will emerge from the tombs in a rush, as though they were hurrying towards a target.

خَـٰشِعَةً أَبْصَـٰرُهُمْ تَرْهَقُهُمْ ذِلَّةٌ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ ٱلْيَوْمُ ٱلَّذِى كَانُوا۟ يُوعَدُونَ ﴿٤٤﴾﴿٤٤﴾

Their eyes cast down; overwhelmed by humiliation. This is the Day which they were promised.

إِنَّآ أَرْسَلْنَا نُوحًا إِلَىٰ قَوْمِهِۦٓ أَنْ أَنذِرْ قَوْمَكَ مِن قَبْلِ أَن يَأْتِيَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ ﴿١﴾﴿١﴾

We sent Noah to his people: “Warn your people before there comes upon them a painful punishment.”

قَالَ يَـٰقَوْمِ إِنِّى لَكُمْ نَذِيرٌ مُّبِينٌ ﴿٢﴾﴿٢﴾

He said, “O my people, I am to you a clear warner.

أَنِ ٱعْبُدُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَٱتَّقُوهُ وَأَطِيعُونِ ﴿٣﴾﴿٣﴾

Worship Allah and reverence Him, and obey me.

يَغْفِرْ لَكُم مِّن ذُنُوبِكُمْ وَيُؤَخِّرْكُمْ إِلَىٰٓ أَجَلٍ مُّسَمًّى ۚ إِنَّ أَجَلَ ٱللَّهِ إِذَا جَآءَ لَا يُؤَخَّرُ ۖ لَوْ كُنتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ ﴿٤﴾﴿٤﴾

And He will forgive you of your sins, and reprieve you until a stated term. Allah’s term cannot be deferred once it has arrived, if you only knew.”

قَالَ رَبِّ إِنِّى دَعَوْتُ قَوْمِى لَيْلًا وَنَهَارًا ﴿٥﴾﴿٥﴾

He said, “My Lord, I have called my people night and day.

فَلَمْ يَزِدْهُمْ دُعَآءِىٓ إِلَّا فِرَارًا ﴿٦﴾﴿٦﴾

But my call added only to their flight.

وَإِنِّى كُلَّمَا دَعَوْتُهُمْ لِتَغْفِرَ لَهُمْ جَعَلُوٓا۟ أَصَـٰبِعَهُمْ فِىٓ ءَاذَانِهِمْ وَٱسْتَغْشَوْا۟ ثِيَابَهُمْ وَأَصَرُّوا۟ وَٱسْتَكْبَرُوا۟ ٱسْتِكْبَارًا ﴿٧﴾﴿٧﴾

Whenever I called them to Your forgiveness, they thrust their fingers into their ears, and wrapped themselves in their garments, and insisted, and became more and more arrogant.

ثُمَّ إِنِّى دَعَوْتُهُمْ جِهَارًا ﴿٨﴾﴿٨﴾

Then I called them openly.

ثُمَّ إِنِّىٓ أَعْلَنتُ لَهُمْ وَأَسْرَرْتُ لَهُمْ إِسْرَارًا ﴿٩﴾﴿٩﴾

Then I appealed to them publicly, and I spoke to them privately.

فَقُلْتُ ٱسْتَغْفِرُوا۟ رَبَّكُمْ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ غَفَّارًا ﴿١٠﴾﴿١٠﴾

I said, ‘Ask your Lord for forgiveness; He is Forgiving.

يُرْسِلِ ٱلسَّمَآءَ عَلَيْكُم مِّدْرَارًا ﴿١١﴾﴿١١﴾

He will let loose the sky upon you in torrents.

وَيُمْدِدْكُم بِأَمْوَٰلٍ وَبَنِينَ وَيَجْعَل لَّكُمْ جَنَّـٰتٍ وَيَجْعَل لَّكُمْ أَنْهَـٰرًا ﴿١٢﴾﴿١٢﴾

And provide you with wealth and children, and allot for you gardens, and allot for you rivers.

مَّا لَكُمْ لَا تَرْجُونَ لِلَّهِ وَقَارًا ﴿١٣﴾﴿١٣﴾

What is the matter with you, that you do not appreciate Allah’s greatness?

وَقَدْ خَلَقَكُمْ أَطْوَارًا ﴿١٤﴾﴿١٤﴾

Although He created you in stages.

أَلَمْ تَرَوْا۟ كَيْفَ خَلَقَ ٱللَّهُ سَبْعَ سَمَـٰوَٰتٍ طِبَاقًا ﴿١٥﴾﴿١٥﴾

Do you not realize that Allah created seven heavens in layers?

وَجَعَلَ ٱلْقَمَرَ فِيهِنَّ نُورًا وَجَعَلَ ٱلشَّمْسَ سِرَاجًا ﴿١٦﴾﴿١٦﴾

And He set the moon in their midst for light, and He made the sun a lamp.

وَٱللَّهُ أَنۢبَتَكُم مِّنَ ٱلْأَرْضِ نَبَاتًا ﴿١٧﴾﴿١٧﴾

And Allah germinated you from the earth like plants.

ثُمَّ يُعِيدُكُمْ فِيهَا وَيُخْرِجُكُمْ إِخْرَاجًا ﴿١٨﴾﴿١٨﴾

Then He will return you into it, and will bring you out again.

وَٱللَّهُ جَعَلَ لَكُمُ ٱلْأَرْضَ بِسَاطًا ﴿١٩﴾﴿١٩﴾

And Allah made the earth a spread for you.

لِّتَسْلُكُوا۟ مِنْهَا سُبُلًا فِجَاجًا ﴿٢٠﴾﴿٢٠﴾

That you may travel its diverse roads.’”

قَالَ نُوحٌ رَّبِّ إِنَّهُمْ عَصَوْنِى وَٱتَّبَعُوا۟ مَن لَّمْ يَزِدْهُ مَالُهُۥ وَوَلَدُهُۥٓ إِلَّا خَسَارًا ﴿٢١﴾﴿٢١﴾

Noah said, “My Lord, they have defied me, and followed him whose wealth and children increase him only in perdition.”

وَمَكَرُوا۟ مَكْرًا كُبَّارًا ﴿٢٢﴾﴿٢٢﴾

And they schemed outrageous schemes.

وَقَالُوا۟ لَا تَذَرُنَّ ءَالِهَتَكُمْ وَلَا تَذَرُنَّ وَدًّا وَلَا سُوَاعًا وَلَا يَغُوثَ وَيَعُوقَ وَنَسْرًا ﴿٢٣﴾﴿٢٣﴾

And they said, “Do not give up your gods; do not give up Wadd, nor Souwa, nor Yaghoos, and Yaooq, and Nassr.”

وَقَدْ أَضَلُّوا۟ كَثِيرًا ۖ وَلَا تَزِدِ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ إِلَّا ضَلَـٰلًا ﴿٢٤﴾﴿٢٤﴾

They have misled many, so do not increase the wrongdoers except in confusion.

مِّمَّا خَطِيٓـَٔـٰتِهِمْ أُغْرِقُوا۟ فَأُدْخِلُوا۟ نَارًا فَلَمْ يَجِدُوا۟ لَهُم مِّن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ أَنصَارًا ﴿٢٥﴾﴿٢٥﴾

Because of their wrongs, they were drowned, and were hurled into a Fire. They did not find apart from Allah any helpers.

وَقَالَ نُوحٌ رَّبِّ لَا تَذَرْ عَلَى ٱلْأَرْضِ مِنَ ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ دَيَّارًا ﴿٢٦﴾﴿٢٦﴾

Noah said, “My Lord, do not leave of the unbelievers a single dweller on earth.

إِنَّكَ إِن تَذَرْهُمْ يُضِلُّوا۟ عِبَادَكَ وَلَا يَلِدُوٓا۟ إِلَّا فَاجِرًا كَفَّارًا ﴿٢٧﴾﴿٢٧﴾

If You leave them, they will mislead Your servants, and will breed only wicked unbelievers.

رَّبِّ ٱغْفِرْ لِى وَلِوَٰلِدَىَّ وَلِمَن دَخَلَ بَيْتِىَ مُؤْمِنًا وَلِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَٱلْمُؤْمِنَـٰتِ وَلَا تَزِدِ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ إِلَّا تَبَارًۢا ﴿٢٨﴾﴿٢٨﴾

My Lord! Forgive me and my parents, and anyone who enters my home in faith, and all the believing men and believing women; and do not increase the wrongdoers except in perdition.”

قُلْ أُوحِىَ إِلَىَّ أَنَّهُ ٱسْتَمَعَ نَفَرٌ مِّنَ ٱلْجِنِّ فَقَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّا سَمِعْنَا قُرْءَانًا عَجَبًا ﴿١﴾﴿١﴾

Say, “It was revealed to me that a band of jinn listened in, and said, ‘We have heard a wondrous Quran.

يَهْدِىٓ إِلَى ٱلرُّشْدِ فَـَٔامَنَّا بِهِۦ ۖ وَلَن نُّشْرِكَ بِرَبِّنَآ أَحَدًا ﴿٢﴾﴿٢﴾

It guides to rectitude, so we have believed in it; and we will never associate anyone with our Lord.

وَأَنَّهُۥ تَعَـٰلَىٰ جَدُّ رَبِّنَا مَا ٱتَّخَذَ صَـٰحِبَةً وَلَا وَلَدًا ﴿٣﴾﴿٣﴾

And exalted is the grandeur of our Lord—He never had a mate, nor a child.

وَأَنَّهُۥ كَانَ يَقُولُ سَفِيهُنَا عَلَى ٱللَّهِ شَطَطًا ﴿٤﴾﴿٤﴾

But the fools among us used to say nonsense about Allah.

وَأَنَّا ظَنَنَّآ أَن لَّن تَقُولَ ٱلْإِنسُ وَٱلْجِنُّ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ كَذِبًا ﴿٥﴾﴿٥﴾

And we thought that humans and jinn would never utter lies about Allah.

وَأَنَّهُۥ كَانَ رِجَالٌ مِّنَ ٱلْإِنسِ يَعُوذُونَ بِرِجَالٍ مِّنَ ٱلْجِنِّ فَزَادُوهُمْ رَهَقًا ﴿٦﴾﴿٦﴾

Some individual humans used to seek power through some individual jinn, but they only increased them in confusion.

وَأَنَّهُمْ ظَنُّوا۟ كَمَا ظَنَنتُمْ أَن لَّن يَبْعَثَ ٱللَّهُ أَحَدًا ﴿٧﴾﴿٧﴾

They thought, as you thought, that Allah would never resurrect anyone.

وَأَنَّا لَمَسْنَا ٱلسَّمَآءَ فَوَجَدْنَـٰهَا مُلِئَتْ حَرَسًا شَدِيدًا وَشُهُبًا ﴿٨﴾﴿٨﴾

We probed the heaven, and found it filled with stern guards and projectiles.

وَأَنَّا كُنَّا نَقْعُدُ مِنْهَا مَقَـٰعِدَ لِلسَّمْعِ ۖ فَمَن يَسْتَمِعِ ٱلْـَٔانَ يَجِدْ لَهُۥ شِهَابًا رَّصَدًا ﴿٩﴾﴿٩﴾

We used to take up positions to listen in; but whoever listens now finds a projectile in wait for him.

وَأَنَّا لَا نَدْرِىٓ أَشَرٌّ أُرِيدَ بِمَن فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ أَمْ أَرَادَ بِهِمْ رَبُّهُمْ رَشَدًا ﴿١٠﴾﴿١٠﴾

We do not know whether ill is intended for those on earth, or if their Lord intends goodness for them.

وَأَنَّا مِنَّا ٱلصَّـٰلِحُونَ وَمِنَّا دُونَ ذَٰلِكَ ۖ كُنَّا طَرَآئِقَ قِدَدًا ﴿١١﴾﴿١١﴾

Some of us are righteous, but some of us are less than that; we follow divergent paths.

وَأَنَّا ظَنَنَّآ أَن لَّن نُّعْجِزَ ٱللَّهَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَلَن نُّعْجِزَهُۥ هَرَبًا ﴿١٢﴾﴿١٢﴾

We realized that we cannot defeat Allah on earth, and that we cannot escape Him by fleeing.

وَأَنَّا لَمَّا سَمِعْنَا ٱلْهُدَىٰٓ ءَامَنَّا بِهِۦ ۖ فَمَن يُؤْمِنۢ بِرَبِّهِۦ فَلَا يَخَافُ بَخْسًا وَلَا رَهَقًا ﴿١٣﴾﴿١٣﴾

And when we heard the guidance, we believed in it. Whoever believes in his Lord fears neither loss, nor burden.

وَأَنَّا مِنَّا ٱلْمُسْلِمُونَ وَمِنَّا ٱلْقَـٰسِطُونَ ۖ فَمَنْ أَسْلَمَ فَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ تَحَرَّوْا۟ رَشَدًا ﴿١٤﴾﴿١٤﴾

Among us are those who are submitting, and among us are the compromisers. As for those who have submitted—it is they who pursue rectitude.

وَأَمَّا ٱلْقَـٰسِطُونَ فَكَانُوا۟ لِجَهَنَّمَ حَطَبًا ﴿١٥﴾﴿١٥﴾

But as for the compromisers—they will be firewood for Hell.’”

وَأَلَّوِ ٱسْتَقَـٰمُوا۟ عَلَى ٱلطَّرِيقَةِ لَأَسْقَيْنَـٰهُم مَّآءً غَدَقًا ﴿١٦﴾﴿١٦﴾

Had they kept true to the Path, We would have given them plenty of water to drink.

لِّنَفْتِنَهُمْ فِيهِ ۚ وَمَن يُعْرِضْ عَن ذِكْرِ رَبِّهِۦ يَسْلُكْهُ عَذَابًا صَعَدًا ﴿١٧﴾﴿١٧﴾

To test them with it. Whoever turns away from the remembrance of his Lord, He will direct him to torment ever mounting.

وَأَنَّ ٱلْمَسَـٰجِدَ لِلَّهِ فَلَا تَدْعُوا۟ مَعَ ٱللَّهِ أَحَدًا ﴿١٨﴾﴿١٨﴾

The places of worship are for Allah. So do not call, besides Allah, upon anyone else.

وَأَنَّهُۥ لَمَّا قَامَ عَبْدُ ٱللَّهِ يَدْعُوهُ كَادُوا۟ يَكُونُونَ عَلَيْهِ لِبَدًا ﴿١٩﴾﴿١٩﴾

And when the servant of Allah got up calling on Him, they almost fell on him in a mass.

قُلْ إِنَّمَآ أَدْعُوا۟ رَبِّى وَلَآ أُشْرِكُ بِهِۦٓ أَحَدًا ﴿٢٠﴾﴿٢٠﴾

Say, “I pray only to my Lord, and I never associate anyone with Him.”

قُلْ إِنِّى لَآ أَمْلِكُ لَكُمْ ضَرًّا وَلَا رَشَدًا ﴿٢١﴾﴿٢١﴾

Say, “It is not in my power to harm you, nor to bring you to right conduct.”

قُلْ إِنِّى لَن يُجِيرَنِى مِنَ ٱللَّهِ أَحَدٌ وَلَنْ أَجِدَ مِن دُونِهِۦ مُلْتَحَدًا ﴿٢٢﴾﴿٢٢﴾

Say, “No one can protect me from Allah, and I will not find any refuge except with Him.

إِلَّا بَلَـٰغًا مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ وَرِسَـٰلَـٰتِهِۦ ۚ وَمَن يَعْصِ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥ فَإِنَّ لَهُۥ نَارَ جَهَنَّمَ خَـٰلِدِينَ فِيهَآ أَبَدًا ﴿٢٣﴾﴿٢٣﴾

Except for a proclamation from Allah and His messages. He who defies Allah and His Messenger—for him is the Fire of Hell, in which they will dwell forever.”

حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا رَأَوْا۟ مَا يُوعَدُونَ فَسَيَعْلَمُونَ مَنْ أَضْعَفُ نَاصِرًا وَأَقَلُّ عَدَدًا ﴿٢٤﴾﴿٢٤﴾

Until, when they see what they were promised, they will know who is weaker in helpers, and fewer in numbers.

قُلْ إِنْ أَدْرِىٓ أَقَرِيبٌ مَّا تُوعَدُونَ أَمْ يَجْعَلُ لَهُۥ رَبِّىٓ أَمَدًا ﴿٢٥﴾﴿٢٥﴾

Say, “I do not know whether what you are promised is near, or whether my Lord will extend it for a period.”

عَـٰلِمُ ٱلْغَيْبِ فَلَا يُظْهِرُ عَلَىٰ غَيْبِهِۦٓ أَحَدًا ﴿٢٦﴾﴿٢٦﴾

The Knower of the Invisible; He does not disclose His Invisible to anyone.

إِلَّا مَنِ ٱرْتَضَىٰ مِن رَّسُولٍ فَإِنَّهُۥ يَسْلُكُ مِنۢ بَيْنِ يَدَيْهِ وَمِنْ خَلْفِهِۦ رَصَدًا ﴿٢٧﴾﴿٢٧﴾

Except to a messenger of His choosing. He then dispatches guards before him and behind him.

لِّيَعْلَمَ أَن قَدْ أَبْلَغُوا۟ رِسَـٰلَـٰتِ رَبِّهِمْ وَأَحَاطَ بِمَا لَدَيْهِمْ وَأَحْصَىٰ كُلَّ شَىْءٍ عَدَدًۢا ﴿٢٨﴾﴿٢٨﴾

That He may know that they have conveyed the messages of their Lord. He encompasses what they have, and has tallied everything by number.

يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلْمُزَّمِّلُ ﴿١﴾﴿١﴾

O you Enwrapped one.

قُمِ ٱلَّيْلَ إِلَّا قَلِيلًا ﴿٢﴾﴿٢﴾

Stay up the night, except a little.

نِّصْفَهُۥٓ أَوِ ٱنقُصْ مِنْهُ قَلِيلًا ﴿٣﴾﴿٣﴾

For half of it, or reduce it a little.

أَوْ زِدْ عَلَيْهِ وَرَتِّلِ ٱلْقُرْءَانَ تَرْتِيلًا ﴿٤﴾﴿٤﴾

Or add to it; and chant the Quran rhythmically.

إِنَّا سَنُلْقِى عَلَيْكَ قَوْلًا ثَقِيلًا ﴿٥﴾﴿٥﴾

We are about to give you a heavy message.

إِنَّ نَاشِئَةَ ٱلَّيْلِ هِىَ أَشَدُّ وَطْـًٔا وَأَقْوَمُ قِيلًا ﴿٦﴾﴿٦﴾

The vigil of night is more effective, and better suited for recitation.

إِنَّ لَكَ فِى ٱلنَّهَارِ سَبْحًا طَوِيلًا ﴿٧﴾﴿٧﴾

In the daytime, you have lengthy work to do.

وَٱذْكُرِ ٱسْمَ رَبِّكَ وَتَبَتَّلْ إِلَيْهِ تَبْتِيلًا ﴿٨﴾﴿٨﴾

So remember the name of your Lord, and devote yourself to Him wholeheartedly.

رَّبُّ ٱلْمَشْرِقِ وَٱلْمَغْرِبِ لَآ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ فَٱتَّخِذْهُ وَكِيلًا ﴿٩﴾﴿٩﴾

Lord of the East and the West. There is no god but He, so take Him as a Trustee.

وَٱصْبِرْ عَلَىٰ مَا يَقُولُونَ وَٱهْجُرْهُمْ هَجْرًا جَمِيلًا ﴿١٠﴾﴿١٠﴾

And endure patiently what they say, and withdraw from them politely.

وَذَرْنِى وَٱلْمُكَذِّبِينَ أُو۟لِى ٱلنَّعْمَةِ وَمَهِّلْهُمْ قَلِيلًا ﴿١١﴾﴿١١﴾

And leave Me to those who deny the truth, those of luxury, and give them a brief respite.

إِنَّ لَدَيْنَآ أَنكَالًا وَجَحِيمًا ﴿١٢﴾﴿١٢﴾

With Us are shackles, and a Fierce Fire.

وَطَعَامًا ذَا غُصَّةٍ وَعَذَابًا أَلِيمًا ﴿١٣﴾﴿١٣﴾

And food that chokes, and a painful punishment.

يَوْمَ تَرْجُفُ ٱلْأَرْضُ وَٱلْجِبَالُ وَكَانَتِ ٱلْجِبَالُ كَثِيبًا مَّهِيلًا ﴿١٤﴾﴿١٤﴾

On the Day when the earth and the mountains tremble, and the mountains become heaps of sand.

إِنَّآ أَرْسَلْنَآ إِلَيْكُمْ رَسُولًا شَـٰهِدًا عَلَيْكُمْ كَمَآ أَرْسَلْنَآ إِلَىٰ فِرْعَوْنَ رَسُولًا ﴿١٥﴾﴿١٥﴾

We have sent to you a messenger, a witness over you, as We sent to Pharaoh a messenger.

فَعَصَىٰ فِرْعَوْنُ ٱلرَّسُولَ فَأَخَذْنَـٰهُ أَخْذًا وَبِيلًا ﴿١٦﴾﴿١٦﴾

But Pharaoh defied the messenger, so We seized him with a terrible seizing.

فَكَيْفَ تَتَّقُونَ إِن كَفَرْتُمْ يَوْمًا يَجْعَلُ ٱلْوِلْدَٰنَ شِيبًا ﴿١٧﴾﴿١٧﴾

So how will you, if you persist in unbelief, save yourself from a Day which will turn the children gray-haired?

ٱلسَّمَآءُ مُنفَطِرٌۢ بِهِۦ ۚ كَانَ وَعْدُهُۥ مَفْعُولًا ﴿١٨﴾﴿١٨﴾

The heaven will shatter thereby. His promise is always fulfilled.

إِنَّ هَـٰذِهِۦ تَذْكِرَةٌ ۖ فَمَن شَآءَ ٱتَّخَذَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِۦ سَبِيلًا ﴿١٩﴾﴿١٩﴾

This is a reminder. So whoever wills, let him take a path to his Lord.

إِنَّ رَبَّكَ يَعْلَمُ أَنَّكَ تَقُومُ أَدْنَىٰ مِن ثُلُثَىِ ٱلَّيْلِ وَنِصْفَهُۥ وَثُلُثَهُۥ وَطَآئِفَةٌ مِّنَ ٱلَّذِينَ مَعَكَ ۚ وَٱللَّهُ يُقَدِّرُ ٱلَّيْلَ وَٱلنَّهَارَ ۚ عَلِمَ أَن لَّن تُحْصُوهُ فَتَابَ عَلَيْكُمْ ۖ فَٱقْرَءُوا۟ مَا تَيَسَّرَ مِنَ ٱلْقُرْءَانِ ۚ عَلِمَ أَن سَيَكُونُ مِنكُم مَّرْضَىٰ ۙ وَءَاخَرُونَ يَضْرِبُونَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ يَبْتَغُونَ مِن فَضْلِ ٱللَّهِ ۙ وَءَاخَرُونَ يُقَـٰتِلُونَ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ ۖ فَٱقْرَءُوا۟ مَا تَيَسَّرَ مِنْهُ ۚ وَأَقِيمُوا۟ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَءَاتُوا۟ ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ وَأَقْرِضُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ قَرْضًا حَسَنًا ۚ وَمَا تُقَدِّمُوا۟ لِأَنفُسِكُم مِّنْ خَيْرٍ تَجِدُوهُ عِندَ ٱللَّهِ هُوَ خَيْرًا وَأَعْظَمَ أَجْرًا ۚ وَٱسْتَغْفِرُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ ۖ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌۢ ﴿٢٠﴾﴿٢٠﴾

Your Lord knows that you stay up nearly two-thirds of the night, or half of it, or one-third of it, along with a group of those with you. Allah designed the night and the day. He knows that you are unable to sustain it, so He has pardoned you. So read of the Quran what is possible for you. He knows that some of you may be ill; and others traveling through the land, seeking Allah’s bounty; and others fighting in Allah’s cause. So read of it what is possible for you, and observe the prayers, and give regular charity, and lend Allah a generous loan. Whatever good you advance for yourselves, you will find it with Allah, better and generously rewarded. And seek Allah’s forgiveness, for Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.

يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلْمُدَّثِّرُ ﴿١﴾﴿١﴾

O you Enrobed one.

قُمْ فَأَنذِرْ ﴿٢﴾﴿٢﴾

Arise and warn.

وَرَبَّكَ فَكَبِّرْ ﴿٣﴾﴿٣﴾

And magnify your Lord.

وَثِيَابَكَ فَطَهِّرْ ﴿٤﴾﴿٤﴾

And purify your clothes.

وَٱلرُّجْزَ فَٱهْجُرْ ﴿٥﴾﴿٥﴾

And abandon abominations.

وَلَا تَمْنُن تَسْتَكْثِرُ ﴿٦﴾﴿٦﴾

And show no favor seeking gain.

وَلِرَبِّكَ فَٱصْبِرْ ﴿٧﴾﴿٧﴾

And be constant for your Lord.

فَإِذَا نُقِرَ فِى ٱلنَّاقُورِ ﴿٨﴾﴿٨﴾

When the Trumpet is blown.

فَذَٰلِكَ يَوْمَئِذٍ يَوْمٌ عَسِيرٌ ﴿٩﴾﴿٩﴾

That Day will be a difficult day.

عَلَى ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ غَيْرُ يَسِيرٍ ﴿١٠﴾﴿١٠﴾

For the disbelievers—not easy.

ذَرْنِى وَمَنْ خَلَقْتُ وَحِيدًا ﴿١١﴾﴿١١﴾

Leave Me to him whom I created alone.

وَجَعَلْتُ لَهُۥ مَالًا مَّمْدُودًا ﴿١٢﴾﴿١٢﴾

And gave him vast wealth.

وَبَنِينَ شُهُودًا ﴿١٣﴾﴿١٣﴾

And children as witnesses.

وَمَهَّدتُّ لَهُۥ تَمْهِيدًا ﴿١٤﴾﴿١٤﴾

And smoothed things for him.

ثُمَّ يَطْمَعُ أَنْ أَزِيدَ ﴿١٥﴾﴿١٥﴾

Then he wants Me to add yet more!

كَلَّآ ۖ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ لِـَٔايَـٰتِنَا عَنِيدًا ﴿١٦﴾﴿١٦﴾

By no means! He was stubborn towards Our revelations.

سَأُرْهِقُهُۥ صَعُودًا ﴿١٧﴾﴿١٧﴾

I will exhaust him increasingly.

إِنَّهُۥ فَكَّرَ وَقَدَّرَ ﴿١٨﴾﴿١٨﴾

He thought and analyzed.

فَقُتِلَ كَيْفَ قَدَّرَ ﴿١٩﴾﴿١٩﴾

May he perish, how he analyzed.

ثُمَّ قُتِلَ كَيْفَ قَدَّرَ ﴿٢٠﴾﴿٢٠﴾

Again: may he perish, how he analyzed.

ثُمَّ نَظَرَ ﴿٢١﴾﴿٢١﴾

Then he looked.

ثُمَّ عَبَسَ وَبَسَرَ ﴿٢٢﴾﴿٢٢﴾

Then he frowned and whined.

ثُمَّ أَدْبَرَ وَٱسْتَكْبَرَ ﴿٢٣﴾﴿٢٣﴾

Then he turned back and was proud.

فَقَالَ إِنْ هَـٰذَآ إِلَّا سِحْرٌ يُؤْثَرُ ﴿٢٤﴾﴿٢٤﴾

And said, “This is nothing but magic from the past.

إِنْ هَـٰذَآ إِلَّا قَوْلُ ٱلْبَشَرِ ﴿٢٥﴾﴿٢٥﴾

This is nothing but the word of a mortal.”

سَأُصْلِيهِ سَقَرَ ﴿٢٦﴾﴿٢٦﴾

I will roast him in Saqar.

وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا سَقَرُ ﴿٢٧﴾﴿٢٧﴾

But what will explain to you what Saqar is?

لَا تُبْقِى وَلَا تَذَرُ ﴿٢٨﴾﴿٢٨﴾

It neither leaves, nor spares.

لَوَّاحَةٌ لِّلْبَشَرِ ﴿٢٩﴾﴿٢٩﴾

It scorches the flesh.

عَلَيْهَا تِسْعَةَ عَشَرَ ﴿٣٠﴾﴿٣٠﴾

Over it are nineteen.

وَمَا جَعَلْنَآ أَصْحَـٰبَ ٱلنَّارِ إِلَّا مَلَـٰٓئِكَةً ۙ وَمَا جَعَلْنَا عِدَّتَهُمْ إِلَّا فِتْنَةً لِّلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ لِيَسْتَيْقِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ أُوتُوا۟ ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ وَيَزْدَادَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ إِيمَـٰنًا ۙ وَلَا يَرْتَابَ ٱلَّذِينَ أُوتُوا۟ ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ وَٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ ۙ وَلِيَقُولَ ٱلَّذِينَ فِى قُلُوبِهِم مَّرَضٌ وَٱلْكَـٰفِرُونَ مَاذَآ أَرَادَ ٱللَّهُ بِهَـٰذَا مَثَلًا ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ يُضِلُّ ٱللَّهُ مَن يَشَآءُ وَيَهْدِى مَن يَشَآءُ ۚ وَمَا يَعْلَمُ جُنُودَ رَبِّكَ إِلَّا هُوَ ۚ وَمَا هِىَ إِلَّا ذِكْرَىٰ لِلْبَشَرِ ﴿٣١﴾﴿٣١﴾

We have appointed only angels to be wardens of the Fire, and caused their number to be a stumbling block for those who disbelieve; so that those given the Scripture may attain certainty; and those who believe may increase in faith; and those given the Scripture and the believers may not doubt; and those in whose hearts is sickness and the unbelievers may say, “What did Allah intend by this parable?” Thus Allah leads astray whom He wills, and guides whom He wills. None knows the soldiers of your Lord except He. This is nothing but a reminder for the mortals.

كَلَّا وَٱلْقَمَرِ ﴿٣٢﴾﴿٣٢﴾

Nay! By the moon.

وَٱلَّيْلِ إِذْ أَدْبَرَ ﴿٣٣﴾﴿٣٣﴾

And the night as it retreats.

وَٱلصُّبْحِ إِذَآ أَسْفَرَ ﴿٣٤﴾﴿٣٤﴾

And the morning as it lights up.

إِنَّهَا لَإِحْدَى ٱلْكُبَرِ ﴿٣٥﴾﴿٣٥﴾

It is one of the greatest.

نَذِيرًا لِّلْبَشَرِ ﴿٣٦﴾﴿٣٦﴾

A warning to the mortals.

لِمَن شَآءَ مِنكُمْ أَن يَتَقَدَّمَ أَوْ يَتَأَخَّرَ ﴿٣٧﴾﴿٣٧﴾

To whomever among you wishes to advance, or regress.

كُلُّ نَفْسٍۭ بِمَا كَسَبَتْ رَهِينَةٌ ﴿٣٨﴾﴿٣٨﴾

Every soul is hostage to what it has earned.

إِلَّآ أَصْحَـٰبَ ٱلْيَمِينِ ﴿٣٩﴾﴿٣٩﴾

Except for those on the Right.

فِى جَنَّـٰتٍ يَتَسَآءَلُونَ ﴿٤٠﴾﴿٤٠﴾

In Gardens, inquiring.

عَنِ ٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ ﴿٤١﴾﴿٤١﴾

About the guilty.

مَا سَلَكَكُمْ فِى سَقَرَ ﴿٤٢﴾﴿٤٢﴾

“What drove you into Saqar?”

قَالُوا۟ لَمْ نَكُ مِنَ ٱلْمُصَلِّينَ ﴿٤٣﴾﴿٤٣﴾

They will say, “We were not of those who prayed.

وَلَمْ نَكُ نُطْعِمُ ٱلْمِسْكِينَ ﴿٤٤﴾﴿٤٤﴾

Nor did we feed the destitute.

وَكُنَّا نَخُوضُ مَعَ ٱلْخَآئِضِينَ ﴿٤٥﴾﴿٤٥﴾

And we used to indulge with those who indulge.

وَكُنَّا نُكَذِّبُ بِيَوْمِ ٱلدِّينِ ﴿٤٦﴾﴿٤٦﴾

And we used to deny the Day of Judgment.

حَتَّىٰٓ أَتَىٰنَا ٱلْيَقِينُ ﴿٤٧﴾﴿٤٧﴾

Until the Inevitable came upon us.”

فَمَا تَنفَعُهُمْ شَفَـٰعَةُ ٱلشَّـٰفِعِينَ ﴿٤٨﴾﴿٤٨﴾

But the intercession of intercessors will not help them.

فَمَا لَهُمْ عَنِ ٱلتَّذْكِرَةِ مُعْرِضِينَ ﴿٤٩﴾﴿٤٩﴾

Why are they turning away from the Reminder?

كَأَنَّهُمْ حُمُرٌ مُّسْتَنفِرَةٌ ﴿٥٠﴾﴿٥٠﴾

As though they were panicked donkeys.

فَرَّتْ مِن قَسْوَرَةٍۭ ﴿٥١﴾﴿٥١﴾

Fleeing from a lion?

بَلْ يُرِيدُ كُلُّ ٱمْرِئٍ مِّنْهُمْ أَن يُؤْتَىٰ صُحُفًا مُّنَشَّرَةً ﴿٥٢﴾﴿٥٢﴾

Yet every one of them desires to be given scrolls unrolled.

كَلَّا ۖ بَل لَّا يَخَافُونَ ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةَ ﴿٥٣﴾﴿٥٣﴾

No indeed! But they do not fear the Hereafter.

كَلَّآ إِنَّهُۥ تَذْكِرَةٌ ﴿٥٤﴾﴿٥٤﴾

Nevertheless, it is a reminder.

فَمَن شَآءَ ذَكَرَهُۥ ﴿٥٥﴾﴿٥٥﴾

So whoever wills, shall remember it.

وَمَا يَذْكُرُونَ إِلَّآ أَن يَشَآءَ ٱللَّهُ ۚ هُوَ أَهْلُ ٱلتَّقْوَىٰ وَأَهْلُ ٱلْمَغْفِرَةِ ﴿٥٦﴾﴿٥٦﴾

But they will not remember, unless Allah wills. He is the Source of Righteousness, and the Source of Forgiveness.

لَآ أُقْسِمُ بِيَوْمِ ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ ﴿١﴾﴿١﴾

I swear by the Day of Resurrection.

وَلَآ أُقْسِمُ بِٱلنَّفْسِ ٱللَّوَّامَةِ ﴿٢﴾﴿٢﴾

And I swear by the blaming soul.

أَيَحْسَبُ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ أَلَّن نَّجْمَعَ عِظَامَهُۥ ﴿٣﴾﴿٣﴾

Does man think that We will not reassemble his bones?

بَلَىٰ قَـٰدِرِينَ عَلَىٰٓ أَن نُّسَوِّىَ بَنَانَهُۥ ﴿٤﴾﴿٤﴾

Yes indeed; We are Able to reconstruct his fingertips.

بَلْ يُرِيدُ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ لِيَفْجُرَ أَمَامَهُۥ ﴿٥﴾﴿٥﴾

But man wants to deny what is ahead of him.

يَسْـَٔلُ أَيَّانَ يَوْمُ ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ ﴿٦﴾﴿٦﴾

He asks, “When is the Day of Resurrection?”

فَإِذَا بَرِقَ ٱلْبَصَرُ ﴿٧﴾﴿٧﴾

When vision is dazzled.

وَخَسَفَ ٱلْقَمَرُ ﴿٨﴾﴿٨﴾

And the moon is eclipsed.

وَجُمِعَ ٱلشَّمْسُ وَٱلْقَمَرُ ﴿٩﴾﴿٩﴾

And the sun and the moon are joined together.

يَقُولُ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ يَوْمَئِذٍ أَيْنَ ٱلْمَفَرُّ ﴿١٠﴾﴿١٠﴾

On that Day, man will say, “Where is the escape?”

كَلَّا لَا وَزَرَ ﴿١١﴾﴿١١﴾

No indeed! There is no refuge.

إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ يَوْمَئِذٍ ٱلْمُسْتَقَرُّ ﴿١٢﴾﴿١٢﴾

To your Lord on that Day is the settlement.

يُنَبَّؤُا۟ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ يَوْمَئِذٍۭ بِمَا قَدَّمَ وَأَخَّرَ ﴿١٣﴾﴿١٣﴾

On that Day man will be informed of everything he put forward, and everything he left behind.

بَلِ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ عَلَىٰ نَفْسِهِۦ بَصِيرَةٌ ﴿١٤﴾﴿١٤﴾

And man will be evidence against himself.

وَلَوْ أَلْقَىٰ مَعَاذِيرَهُۥ ﴿١٥﴾﴿١٥﴾

Even as he presents his excuses.

لَا تُحَرِّكْ بِهِۦ لِسَانَكَ لِتَعْجَلَ بِهِۦٓ ﴿١٦﴾﴿١٦﴾

Do not wag your tongue with it, to hurry on with it.

إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا جَمْعَهُۥ وَقُرْءَانَهُۥ ﴿١٧﴾﴿١٧﴾

Upon Us is its collection and its recitation.

فَإِذَا قَرَأْنَـٰهُ فَٱتَّبِعْ قُرْءَانَهُۥ ﴿١٨﴾﴿١٨﴾

Then, when We have recited it, follow its recitation.

ثُمَّ إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا بَيَانَهُۥ ﴿١٩﴾﴿١٩﴾

Then upon Us is its explanation.

كَلَّا بَلْ تُحِبُّونَ ٱلْعَاجِلَةَ ﴿٢٠﴾﴿٢٠﴾

Alas, you love the fleeting life.

وَتَذَرُونَ ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةَ ﴿٢١﴾﴿٢١﴾

And you disregard the Hereafter.

وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ نَّاضِرَةٌ ﴿٢٢﴾﴿٢٢﴾

Faces on that Day will be radiant.

إِلَىٰ رَبِّهَا نَاظِرَةٌ ﴿٢٣﴾﴿٢٣﴾

Looking towards their Lord.

وَوُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍۭ بَاسِرَةٌ ﴿٢٤﴾﴿٢٤﴾

And faces on that Day will be gloomy.

تَظُنُّ أَن يُفْعَلَ بِهَا فَاقِرَةٌ ﴿٢٥﴾﴿٢٥﴾

Realizing that a back-breaker has befallen them.

كَلَّآ إِذَا بَلَغَتِ ٱلتَّرَاقِىَ ﴿٢٦﴾﴿٢٦﴾

Indeed, when it has reached the breast-bones.

وَقِيلَ مَنْ ۜ رَاقٍ ﴿٢٧﴾﴿٢٧﴾

And it is said, “Who is the healer?”

وَظَنَّ أَنَّهُ ٱلْفِرَاقُ ﴿٢٨﴾﴿٢٨﴾

And he realizes that it is the parting.

وَٱلْتَفَّتِ ٱلسَّاقُ بِٱلسَّاقِ ﴿٢٩﴾﴿٢٩﴾

And leg is entwined with leg.

إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ يَوْمَئِذٍ ٱلْمَسَاقُ ﴿٣٠﴾﴿٣٠﴾

To your Lord on that Day is the drive.

فَلَا صَدَّقَ وَلَا صَلَّىٰ ﴿٣١﴾﴿٣١﴾

He neither believed nor prayed.

وَلَـٰكِن كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّىٰ ﴿٣٢﴾﴿٣٢﴾

But he denied and turned away.

ثُمَّ ذَهَبَ إِلَىٰٓ أَهْلِهِۦ يَتَمَطَّىٰٓ ﴿٣٣﴾﴿٣٣﴾

Then he went to his family, full of pride.

أَوْلَىٰ لَكَ فَأَوْلَىٰ ﴿٣٤﴾﴿٣٤﴾

Woe to you; and woe.

ثُمَّ أَوْلَىٰ لَكَ فَأَوْلَىٰٓ ﴿٣٥﴾﴿٣٥﴾

Then again: woe to you; and woe.

أَيَحْسَبُ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ أَن يُتْرَكَ سُدًى ﴿٣٦﴾﴿٣٦﴾

Does man think that he will be left without purpose?

أَلَمْ يَكُ نُطْفَةً مِّن مَّنِىٍّ يُمْنَىٰ ﴿٣٧﴾﴿٣٧﴾

Was he not a drop of ejaculated semen?

ثُمَّ كَانَ عَلَقَةً فَخَلَقَ فَسَوَّىٰ ﴿٣٨﴾﴿٣٨﴾

Then he became a clot. And He created and proportioned?

فَجَعَلَ مِنْهُ ٱلزَّوْجَيْنِ ٱلذَّكَرَ وَٱلْأُنثَىٰٓ ﴿٣٩﴾﴿٣٩﴾

And made of him the two sexes, the male and the female?

أَلَيْسَ ذَٰلِكَ بِقَـٰدِرٍ عَلَىٰٓ أَن يُحْـِۧىَ ٱلْمَوْتَىٰ ﴿٤٠﴾﴿٤٠﴾

Is He not Able to revive the dead?

هَلْ أَتَىٰ عَلَى ٱلْإِنسَـٰنِ حِينٌ مِّنَ ٱلدَّهْرِ لَمْ يَكُن شَيْـًٔا مَّذْكُورًا ﴿١﴾﴿١﴾

Has there come upon man a period of time when he was nothing to be mentioned?

إِنَّا خَلَقْنَا ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ مِن نُّطْفَةٍ أَمْشَاجٍ نَّبْتَلِيهِ فَجَعَلْنَـٰهُ سَمِيعًۢا بَصِيرًا ﴿٢﴾﴿٢﴾

We created man from a liquid mixture, to test him; and We made him hearing and seeing.

إِنَّا هَدَيْنَـٰهُ ٱلسَّبِيلَ إِمَّا شَاكِرًا وَإِمَّا كَفُورًا ﴿٣﴾﴿٣﴾

We guided him to the way, be he appreciative or unappreciative.

إِنَّآ أَعْتَدْنَا لِلْكَـٰفِرِينَ سَلَـٰسِلَا۟ وَأَغْلَـٰلًا وَسَعِيرًا ﴿٤﴾﴿٤﴾

We have prepared for the faithless chains, and yokes, and a Searing Fire.

إِنَّ ٱلْأَبْرَارَ يَشْرَبُونَ مِن كَأْسٍ كَانَ مِزَاجُهَا كَافُورًا ﴿٥﴾﴿٥﴾

But the righteous will drink from a cup whose mixture is aroma.

عَيْنًا يَشْرَبُ بِهَا عِبَادُ ٱللَّهِ يُفَجِّرُونَهَا تَفْجِيرًا ﴿٦﴾﴿٦﴾

A spring from which the servants of Allah will drink, making it gush abundantly.

يُوفُونَ بِٱلنَّذْرِ وَيَخَافُونَ يَوْمًا كَانَ شَرُّهُۥ مُسْتَطِيرًا ﴿٧﴾﴿٧﴾

They fulfill their vows, and dread a Day whose ill is widespread.

وَيُطْعِمُونَ ٱلطَّعَامَ عَلَىٰ حُبِّهِۦ مِسْكِينًا وَيَتِيمًا وَأَسِيرًا ﴿٨﴾﴿٨﴾

And they feed, for the love of Him, the poor, and the orphan, and the captive.

إِنَّمَا نُطْعِمُكُمْ لِوَجْهِ ٱللَّهِ لَا نُرِيدُ مِنكُمْ جَزَآءً وَلَا شُكُورًا ﴿٩﴾﴿٩﴾

“We only feed you for the sake of Allah. We want from you neither compensation, nor gratitude.

إِنَّا نَخَافُ مِن رَّبِّنَا يَوْمًا عَبُوسًا قَمْطَرِيرًا ﴿١٠﴾﴿١٠﴾

We dread from our Lord a frowning grim Day.”

فَوَقَىٰهُمُ ٱللَّهُ شَرَّ ذَٰلِكَ ٱلْيَوْمِ وَلَقَّىٰهُمْ نَضْرَةً وَسُرُورًا ﴿١١﴾﴿١١﴾

So Allah will protect them from the ills of that Day, and will grant them radiance and joy.

وَجَزَىٰهُم بِمَا صَبَرُوا۟ جَنَّةً وَحَرِيرًا ﴿١٢﴾﴿١٢﴾

And will reward them for their patience with a Garden and silk.

مُّتَّكِـِٔينَ فِيهَا عَلَى ٱلْأَرَآئِكِ ۖ لَا يَرَوْنَ فِيهَا شَمْسًا وَلَا زَمْهَرِيرًا ﴿١٣﴾﴿١٣﴾

Reclining therein on the thrones; experiencing therein neither sun, nor frost.

وَدَانِيَةً عَلَيْهِمْ ظِلَـٰلُهَا وَذُلِّلَتْ قُطُوفُهَا تَذْلِيلًا ﴿١٤﴾﴿١٤﴾

Its shade hovering over them, and its fruit brought low within reach.

وَيُطَافُ عَلَيْهِم بِـَٔانِيَةٍ مِّن فِضَّةٍ وَأَكْوَابٍ كَانَتْ قَوَارِيرَا۠ ﴿١٥﴾﴿١٥﴾

Passing around them are vessels of silver, and cups of crystal.

قَوَارِيرَا۟ مِن فِضَّةٍ قَدَّرُوهَا تَقْدِيرًا ﴿١٦﴾﴿١٦﴾

Crystal of silver—they measured them exactly.

وَيُسْقَوْنَ فِيهَا كَأْسًا كَانَ مِزَاجُهَا زَنجَبِيلًا ﴿١٧﴾﴿١٧﴾

They will be served therein with a cup whose flavor is Zanjabeel.

عَيْنًا فِيهَا تُسَمَّىٰ سَلْسَبِيلًا ﴿١٨﴾﴿١٨﴾

A spring therein named Salsabeel.

وَيَطُوفُ عَلَيْهِمْ وِلْدَٰنٌ مُّخَلَّدُونَ إِذَا رَأَيْتَهُمْ حَسِبْتَهُمْ لُؤْلُؤًا مَّنثُورًا ﴿١٩﴾﴿١٩﴾

Passing among them are eternalized youths. If you see them, you would think them sprinkled pearls.

وَإِذَا رَأَيْتَ ثَمَّ رَأَيْتَ نَعِيمًا وَمُلْكًا كَبِيرًا ﴿٢٠﴾﴿٢٠﴾

Wherever you look, you see bliss, and a vast kingdom.

عَـٰلِيَهُمْ ثِيَابُ سُندُسٍ خُضْرٌ وَإِسْتَبْرَقٌ ۖ وَحُلُّوٓا۟ أَسَاوِرَ مِن فِضَّةٍ وَسَقَىٰهُمْ رَبُّهُمْ شَرَابًا طَهُورًا ﴿٢١﴾﴿٢١﴾

Upon them are garments of green silk, and satin. And they will be adorned with bracelets of silver. And their Lord will offer them a pure drink.

إِنَّ هَـٰذَا كَانَ لَكُمْ جَزَآءً وَكَانَ سَعْيُكُم مَّشْكُورًا ﴿٢٢﴾﴿٢٢﴾

“This is a reward for you. Your efforts are well appreciated.”

إِنَّا نَحْنُ نَزَّلْنَا عَلَيْكَ ٱلْقُرْءَانَ تَنزِيلًا ﴿٢٣﴾﴿٢٣﴾

It is We who sent down the Quran upon you—a gradual revelation.

فَٱصْبِرْ لِحُكْمِ رَبِّكَ وَلَا تُطِعْ مِنْهُمْ ءَاثِمًا أَوْ كَفُورًا ﴿٢٤﴾﴿٢٤﴾

So be patient for the decision of your Lord, and do not obey the sinner or the blasphemer among them.

وَٱذْكُرِ ٱسْمَ رَبِّكَ بُكْرَةً وَأَصِيلًا ﴿٢٥﴾﴿٢٥﴾

And mention the name of your Lord, morning and evening.

وَمِنَ ٱلَّيْلِ فَٱسْجُدْ لَهُۥ وَسَبِّحْهُ لَيْلًا طَوِيلًا ﴿٢٦﴾﴿٢٦﴾

And for part of the night, prostrate yourself to Him, and glorify Him long into the night.

إِنَّ هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ يُحِبُّونَ ٱلْعَاجِلَةَ وَيَذَرُونَ وَرَآءَهُمْ يَوْمًا ثَقِيلًا ﴿٢٧﴾﴿٢٧﴾

As for these: they love the fleeting life, and leave behind a heavy day.

نَّحْنُ خَلَقْنَـٰهُمْ وَشَدَدْنَآ أَسْرَهُمْ ۖ وَإِذَا شِئْنَا بَدَّلْنَآ أَمْثَـٰلَهُمْ تَبْدِيلًا ﴿٢٨﴾﴿٢٨﴾

We created them, and strengthened their frame; and whenever We will, We can replace them with others like them.

إِنَّ هَـٰذِهِۦ تَذْكِرَةٌ ۖ فَمَن شَآءَ ٱتَّخَذَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِۦ سَبِيلًا ﴿٢٩﴾﴿٢٩﴾

This is a reminder; so whoever wills, let him take a path to his Lord.

وَمَا تَشَآءُونَ إِلَّآ أَن يَشَآءَ ٱللَّهُ ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ عَلِيمًا حَكِيمًا ﴿٣٠﴾﴿٣٠﴾

Yet you cannot will, unless Allah wills. Allah is Knowing and Wise.

يُدْخِلُ مَن يَشَآءُ فِى رَحْمَتِهِۦ ۚ وَٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ أَعَدَّ لَهُمْ عَذَابًا أَلِيمًۢا ﴿٣١﴾﴿٣١﴾

He admits into His mercy whomever He wills. But as for the wrongdoers, He has prepared for them a painful punishment.

وَٱلْمُرْسَلَـٰتِ عُرْفًا ﴿١﴾﴿١﴾

By those unleashed in succession.

فَٱلْعَـٰصِفَـٰتِ عَصْفًا ﴿٢﴾﴿٢﴾

Storming turbulently.

وَٱلنَّـٰشِرَٰتِ نَشْرًا ﴿٣﴾﴿٣﴾

Scattering far and wide.

فَٱلْفَـٰرِقَـٰتِ فَرْقًا ﴿٤﴾﴿٤﴾

Separating decisively.

فَٱلْمُلْقِيَـٰتِ ذِكْرًا ﴿٥﴾﴿٥﴾

Delivering a message.

عُذْرًا أَوْ نُذْرًا ﴿٦﴾﴿٦﴾

Excusing or warning.

إِنَّمَا تُوعَدُونَ لَوَٰقِعٌ ﴿٧﴾﴿٧﴾

Surely what you are promised will happen.

فَإِذَا ٱلنُّجُومُ طُمِسَتْ ﴿٨﴾﴿٨﴾

When the stars are obliterated.

وَإِذَا ٱلسَّمَآءُ فُرِجَتْ ﴿٩﴾﴿٩﴾

And the sky is fractured.

وَإِذَا ٱلْجِبَالُ نُسِفَتْ ﴿١٠﴾﴿١٠﴾

And the mountains are blown away.

وَإِذَا ٱلرُّسُلُ أُقِّتَتْ ﴿١١﴾﴿١١﴾

And the messengers are alerted.

لِأَىِّ يَوْمٍ أُجِّلَتْ ﴿١٢﴾﴿١٢﴾

Until which day is it deferred?

لِيَوْمِ ٱلْفَصْلِ ﴿١٣﴾﴿١٣﴾

Until the Day of Decision.

وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا يَوْمُ ٱلْفَصْلِ ﴿١٤﴾﴿١٤﴾

And what will teach you what the Day of Decision is?

وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ ﴿١٥﴾﴿١٥﴾

Woe on that Day to the liars.

أَلَمْ نُهْلِكِ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ ﴿١٦﴾﴿١٦﴾

Did We not destroy the ancients?

ثُمَّ نُتْبِعُهُمُ ٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ ﴿١٧﴾﴿١٧﴾

Then succeeded them with the others?

كَذَٰلِكَ نَفْعَلُ بِٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ ﴿١٨﴾﴿١٨﴾

This is how We deal with the guilty.

وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ ﴿١٩﴾﴿١٩﴾

Woe on that Day to the rejecters.

أَلَمْ نَخْلُقكُّم مِّن مَّآءٍ مَّهِينٍ ﴿٢٠﴾﴿٢٠﴾

Did We not create you from an insignificant fluid?

فَجَعَلْنَـٰهُ فِى قَرَارٍ مَّكِينٍ ﴿٢١﴾﴿٢١﴾

Then lodged it in a secure place?

إِلَىٰ قَدَرٍ مَّعْلُومٍ ﴿٢٢﴾﴿٢٢﴾

For a known term?

فَقَدَرْنَا فَنِعْمَ ٱلْقَـٰدِرُونَ ﴿٢٣﴾﴿٢٣﴾

We measured precisely. We are the best to measure.

وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ ﴿٢٤﴾﴿٢٤﴾

Woe on that Day to the falsifiers.

أَلَمْ نَجْعَلِ ٱلْأَرْضَ كِفَاتًا ﴿٢٥﴾﴿٢٥﴾

Did We not make the earth a homestead?

أَحْيَآءً وَأَمْوَٰتًا ﴿٢٦﴾﴿٢٦﴾

For the living and the dead?

وَجَعَلْنَا فِيهَا رَوَٰسِىَ شَـٰمِخَـٰتٍ وَأَسْقَيْنَـٰكُم مَّآءً فُرَاتًا ﴿٢٧﴾﴿٢٧﴾

And set on it lofty mountains, and give you pure water to drink?

وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ ﴿٢٨﴾﴿٢٨﴾

Woe on that Day to the deniers.

ٱنطَلِقُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰ مَا كُنتُم بِهِۦ تُكَذِّبُونَ ﴿٢٩﴾﴿٢٩﴾

“Proceed to what you used to deny.”

ٱنطَلِقُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰ ظِلٍّ ذِى ثَلَـٰثِ شُعَبٍ ﴿٣٠﴾﴿٣٠﴾

“Proceed to a shadow of three different masses.”

لَّا ظَلِيلٍ وَلَا يُغْنِى مِنَ ٱللَّهَبِ ﴿٣١﴾﴿٣١﴾

Offering no shade, and unavailing against the flames.

إِنَّهَا تَرْمِى بِشَرَرٍ كَٱلْقَصْرِ ﴿٣٢﴾﴿٣٢﴾

It shoots sparks as castles.

كَأَنَّهُۥ جِمَـٰلَتٌ صُفْرٌ ﴿٣٣﴾﴿٣٣﴾

As if they were yellow camels.

وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ ﴿٣٤﴾﴿٣٤﴾

Woe on that Day to the liars.

هَـٰذَا يَوْمُ لَا يَنطِقُونَ ﴿٣٥﴾﴿٣٥﴾

This is a Day when they will not speak.

وَلَا يُؤْذَنُ لَهُمْ فَيَعْتَذِرُونَ ﴿٣٦﴾﴿٣٦﴾

And they will not be allowed to apologize.

وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ ﴿٣٧﴾﴿٣٧﴾

Woe on that Day to the rejecters.

هَـٰذَا يَوْمُ ٱلْفَصْلِ ۖ جَمَعْنَـٰكُمْ وَٱلْأَوَّلِينَ ﴿٣٨﴾﴿٣٨﴾

This is the Day of Separation; We have gathered you, together with the ancients.

فَإِن كَانَ لَكُمْ كَيْدٌ فَكِيدُونِ ﴿٣٩﴾﴿٣٩﴾

So if you have a strategy, use it against Me.

وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ ﴿٤٠﴾﴿٤٠﴾

Woe on that Day to the falsifiers.

إِنَّ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ فِى ظِلَـٰلٍ وَعُيُونٍ ﴿٤١﴾﴿٤١﴾

The righteous will be amidst shades and fountains.

وَفَوَٰكِهَ مِمَّا يَشْتَهُونَ ﴿٤٢﴾﴿٤٢﴾

And fruits as they desire.

كُلُوا۟ وَٱشْرَبُوا۟ هَنِيٓـًٔۢا بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ ﴿٤٣﴾﴿٤٣﴾

“Eat and drink pleasantly, for what you used to do.”

إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ ﴿٤٤﴾﴿٤٤﴾

This is how We reward the doers of good.

وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ ﴿٤٥﴾﴿٤٥﴾

Woe on that Day to the deniers.

كُلُوا۟ وَتَمَتَّعُوا۟ قَلِيلًا إِنَّكُم مُّجْرِمُونَ ﴿٤٦﴾﴿٤٦﴾

“Eat and enjoy yourselves a little; you are indeed criminals.”

وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ ﴿٤٧﴾﴿٤٧﴾

Woe on that Day to the liars.

وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمُ ٱرْكَعُوا۟ لَا يَرْكَعُونَ ﴿٤٨﴾﴿٤٨﴾

And when it is said to them, “Kneel,” they do not kneel.

وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ ﴿٤٩﴾﴿٤٩﴾

Woe on that Day to the rejecters.

فَبِأَىِّ حَدِيثٍۭ بَعْدَهُۥ يُؤْمِنُونَ ﴿٥٠﴾﴿٥٠﴾

In what message, beyond this, will they believe?
