Quran 40:82

Have they not journeyed through the land, and seen the outcome for those before them? They were more numerous than they, and had greater power and influence in the land. But what they had achieved availed them nothing.

Have they not travelled in the land to see the nature of the consequence for those before them? They were more numerous than these, and mightier in power and (in the) traces (which they left behind them) in the earth. But all that they used to earn availed them not.

Daha Yer yüzünde gezip de bir bakmazlar mı? Kendilerinden evvelkilerin âkıbeti nasıl olmuş? Onlar kendilerinden hem daha çok hem kuvvetçe ve Arzda âsarca daha çetin idiler, öyle iken o kesbettikleri şeyler kendilerini kurtarmadı

N’ont-ils pas voyagé dans le pays ? n’ont-ils pas remarqué quelle a été la fin de leurs prédécesseurs, plus nombreux qu’eux, plus remarquables par leur force et les monuments qu’ils ont laissés dans le pays ? Mais leurs travaux ne leur ont servi de rien.

Gaan zij niet over de aarde, en zien zij niet wat het einde was van hen, die vóór hen bestonden? Deze waren talrijker dan zij en machtiger in sterkte, en lieten aanzienlijker gedenkteekenen van hunne macht op aarde; maar wat zij verworven hadden was hun van geen voordeel.

Non hanno essi viaggiato nel paese? non hanno essi osservato qual’è stata la fine de’ loro predecessori, più numerosi di loro, più rimarchevoli per la loro forza, e per i monumenti che hanno lasciati nel paese? Ma i loro lavori non han valsuto a nulla.
