Quran 10:98

If only there was one town that believed and benefited by its belief. Except for the people of Jonah. When they believed, We removed from them the suffering of disgrace in the worldly life, and We gave them comfort for a while.

If only there had been a community (of all those that were destroyed of old) that believed and profited by its belief as did the folk of Jonah! When they believed We drew off from them the torment of disgrace in the life of the world and gave them comfort for a while.

Fakat o vakit iyman edip de iymanları kendilerine fâide vermiş bir memleket olsa idi? Ancak Yunüsün kavmi iyman ettikleri vakıt Dünya hayatta o rüsvalık azâbını kendilerinden açmış ve bir zamana kadar onları müstefid etmiş idik

S’il en était autrement, une ville qui aurait cru, aurait trouvé en cela son salut ; mais il n’y eut que le peuple de JONAS qui fut sauvé, après avoir cru. Nous le délivrâmes du châtiment d’opprobre dans ce monde, et nous le laissâmes subsister jusqu’à un certain temps.

En indien dit niet zoo ware, zou menige stad, van de vele die verwoest werden, geloofd hebben, en het geloof harer inwoners zou hun ten voordeele hebben gestrekt; maar niemand van hen geloofde, vóór de uitvoering van hun doemvonnis, uitgenomen het volk van Jonas. Toen zij geloofden bevrijdden wij hen van de straf der schande in deze wereld en lieten hun, voor zekeren tijd, hun leven en hunne bezittingen genieten.

Se fosse altrimenti, una città che avrebbe creduto, vi avrebbe trovato la sua salvezza; ma non vi fu che il popolo di Gionata che fu salvato, perchè credeva. Noi lo liberammo dal gastigo d’obbrobio in questo mondo, e lo lasciammo sussistere fino ad un certo tempo.
