Quran 6:148

The polytheists will say, “Had Allah willed, we would not have practiced idolatry, nor would have our forefathers, nor would we have prohibited anything.” Likewise those before them lied, until they tasted Our might. Say, “Do you have any knowledge that you can produce for us? You follow nothing but conjecture, and you only guess.”

They who are idolaters will say: Had Allah willed, we had not ascribed (unto Him) partners neither had our fathers, nor had we forbidden aught. Thus did those who were before them give the lie (to Allah's messengers) till they tasted of the fear of Us. Say: Have ye any knowledge that ye can adduce for Us? Lo! ye follow naught but an opinion, Lo! ye do but guess.

Müşrik olanlar diyecekler ki: Allah dilese idi ne biz müşrik olurduk ne atalarımız, ne de bir şey haram kılabilirdik, bunlardan evvelkiler de böyle tekzib etmişlerdi, nihayet azâbımızı tattılar, hiç de, ilim denecek bir şey'iniz varmı ki bize çıkarasınız? Siz sırf bir zann ardından gidiyorsunuz ve siz ancak atıyorsunuz.

Ceux qui associent (d’autres divinités à Dieu) diront : Si Dieu l’avait voulu, ni nous ni nos pères ne lui aurions associé (d’autres divinités) ; nous n’aurions point interdit l’usage d’aucune chose. C’est ainsi que ceux qui les ont précédés accusaient d’imposture d’autres apôtres, jusqu’au moment ou ils éprouvèrent notre colère. Dis-leur : Si vous en avez quelque connaissance, faites-la voir ; mais vous ne suivez que des opinions, et vous n’êtes que des menteurs !

De afgodendienaars zullen zeggen: Indien het Gode had behaagd, zouden wij noch onze vaderen afgodendienarij schuldig zijn geweest. Volgens hen zouden wij het gebruik van geenerlei ding verboden hebben. Zoo beschuldigden zij die hen voorafgingen, de profeten van bedrog, tot zij onze gestrenge straf ondervonden. Zeg: indien gij eenige kennis hebt van hetgeen gij zegt, laat het zien; doch gij volgt slechts meeningen en zijt leugenaars.

Quei che associano altre divinità a Dio diranno: Se Dio avesse voluto, nè noi nè i nostri padri gli avremmo dati de’ socj; non avremmo interdetto l’uso di cosa alcuna. È così che quei che li hanno preceduti accusavano d’impostura (altri apostoli) fino al momento in cui provarono la nostra ira. Di’ loro: Se ne avete qualche conoscenza, fatela vedere, ma voi non seguite che le opinioni, e siete tanti bugiardi.
