Quran 3:156

O you who believe! Do not be like those who disbelieved, and said of their brethren who marched in the land, or went on the offensive, “Had they stayed with us, they would not have died or been killed.” So that Allah may make it a cause of regret in their hearts. Allah gives life and causes death. Allah is Seeing of what you do.

O ye who believe! Be not as those who disbelieved and said of their brethren who went abroad in the land or were fighting in the field: If they had been (here) with us they would not have died or been killed: that Allah may make it anguish in their hearts. Allah giveth life and causeth death; and Allah is Seer of what ye do.

Ey o bütün iman edenler! Sakın şunlar gibi olmayın ki küfrettiler de ıhvanları arzda bir siyahat ettikleri veya gazaya gittikleri vakit haklarında şöyle dediler "yanımızda olsalar ne ölürlerdi ne katlonurlardı" Allah bunu kalblerinde bir hasret olarak bıraksın diye, halbuki hayatı veren de Allah mematı veren de, ve Allah her ne yaparsanız görüp duruyor.

Ô croyants ! Ne ressemblez pas aux infidèles qui disent à leurs frères, quand ceux-ci voyagent dans le pays ou quand ils vont à la guerre : S’ils étaient restés avec nous, ils ne seraient pas morts, ils n’auraient pas été tués. Dieu a voulu que ce qui est arrivé jetât dans leurs cœurs d’amers regrets. Dieu donne la vie et la mort, et il voit vos actions.

O geloovigen! weest niet als de ongeloovigen, die van hunne broeders zeggen, als zij het land doorreizen, of naar den oorlog gaan: Indien zij met ons waren gebleven, zouden zij niet gestorven of niet gedood zijn. God heeft dit gedaan om hun hart te beproeven. God geeft leven en dood, en ziet wat gij doet.

O credenti! Non vogliate rassomigliare agl’infedeli che dicono ai loro fratelli, quando questi ultimi viaggiano, o quando vanno alla guerra: Se fossero rimasti con noi, non sarebbero morti, non sarebbero stati uccisi. Dio ha voluto che ciò che è accaduto infondesse nel loro cuore degli amari rimorsi. Dio dà la vita e la morte, e vede le azioni.
